Backup to new computer

Thread needs solution

Hi, I am on the fence when it comes to using an online service. Question 1: Living in the lighting capital of the world I have had to buy new computers more then once. Can I restore to new hardware without having to copy all my old drivers to a USB drive?

Question 2: Does the backup include the OS and application software, plus settings?
Question 3: How will the backups be effected if I upgrade to a newer OS?
Question 4: I don't have a lot of hands on time using backup software, would you recommed this product to be user friendly?

Thank you for your time...

Hello Bob,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Online Backup service.

Let me answer your questions.

1 and 2. You can restore your backup to any computer you want even without the Acronis software installed (see Web-Restore for more details) since Online Backup creates an archive containing only certain files/folders, i.e. you can't back up a whole drive/partition with OS installed and then restore it to a new PC. You'll need to back up your system drive using general backup procedure and then restore it to a new PC.

3. Backups won't be anyhow affected since they're only file backups.

4. Unfortunately, I can't discuss any 3rd-party software, but I hope that anyone else can suggest you such application.

Please reply to this thread if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
