Search after files in full image files ?

Thread needs solution

I have lost some files in my windows installation, and get a error that files are missing.
I have a full image file which is very new, but how can I search for the file names that I want to restore again?

There is no search feature in the TI application. You would need to determine the path to such missing files then use Windows File Explorer to locate those files in the .tib archive.

This is a backword step. My free version of Acronis backup allowed be to search quickly from within the program. Windows explorer takes ages.

Hi John,

Unfortunately, we're just the user forum so we can't help make the change directly.  Please submit feedback through the application.  If there are enough requests for the same types of changes, hopefully it will get approved for the developers to implement in future releases.

Thanks Bobbo and Enchantech!  It seems some key functionality of the DATA PROTECTION and RECOVERY dictum has been forgotten by Acronis...namely the ability to recover prior backed up files.  True Image 2012 had that feature, but 2016 does not.

I'll be looking for other solutions that will offer full functionality for BU & Recovery.  Thanks again guys!  I love your posts.

Hello Herb,

Check out the backwards compatibility list.  2016 can restore backups from 2013 and newer.  You can still use your 2012 offline bootable media for any existing backups, but would need to use 2016 for newer ones.
