Disc not detected

Thread needs solution

Morning,

Acronis 2016 Rev. 6027, latest Version.

with the Emergency UEFI stick created i try to backup my System:

HP X2 210 with Windows 10 installed.

However the eMMC Disc is not fully detected, only the Fat32 Partition is visible, not more.

When installed on the system, Backup is available, but restore with the emergency Stick fails.

is there any new release planed?

Michael

Hello Michael, this is a known problem with some of the newer types of drives, in particular with the standard, Linux based, rescue media.  The good news is that there is a new build of ATIH 2016 that is due to be release very soon which has updated Linux media with support for many more of these newer drives.  Some of the MVP's have been testing out a beta version of the new build and advise that it is doing what has been promised.

In the interim period, the work-around for the issue is to build the Windows PE Rescue media using the Windows 10 ADK which should allow you to see your new drives correctly.  If this doesn't work, then you would need to add the extra device drivers for the eMMC drive to the WinPE media as documented in post http://forum.acronis.com/forum/100770 in the Best Practices Forum area.

I can confirm the WinPE works on my Asus T200 with a 64Gb Flash eMMC hard drive.  In the meantime, it's the only option, but relatively simple to created once the Windows ADK is installed.  Just click on the resuce media builder and select WinPE after that and Acronis will do the rest.

Good news is that the next update should have eMMC driver support in the default Linux bootable media.  In the beta version I received for testing, it did pick up my eMMC flash drive and my Samsung 950 Pro PCIE NVME drive.  Can only speculate that it will be in the final release, but am pretty sure it will be there and hopefully, it will be out this month as that's what other Acronis engineers and technicians have mentioned in various forum threads.

Morning Folks,

thx for the Info & a possible soon released fix.

in the meantime we'll go with WinPe and see how it goes.

regards,

Michael

Hi Michael,

The latest update release of 2016 came today, version 6038.  You can find it in your account on the support site, link at top of this page.

Not sure that the new build update is available yet, checking my own account page shows that 6038 is the Mac version equivalent to 6027 for Windows with same release date in December 2015.

My account shows the same as Steve S's.
