acronis true image 2016 update 6559-on xp, impossible tu update version 6027
Hello,
On same station I've installed WIN7 pro and win xp home, both with acronis 2016 6027 installed
Update to version 6559 is ok on win7, but impossible on xp.
I've always irrecuparable error on installing, tryng to install via direct update or with full version download. Icons are not recognized on XP, tested on other computers working XP.
Installation interferes with other softwares, like Keyscrambler, Shadowuser,.... despite antivirus off..
Back to version 6027 install is impossible after this issue, unless using partition backup via acronis..
Thanks for suggestions..

Thank you for your answer
I'll try, but I have still doubt, because the icon off full installer is not recognized on any pc using XP..
In fact it's not a matter because the previous version is working fine...
I'll try the new claener et will be back with comments..
Best regards..

Hy,
Sorry but reinstall has failed again, using revo and/or cleaning tool, back to previous version via image restore, as usual..
Thanks for your help...(if no icons are in system32, I suppose there's a little bug in this version 6559......
Best regards

Guy,
Try right-clicking on the installer and clicking the "compatibility" tab. Then select compatibility for XP SP3 and apply. Then right click and "run as administrator". Any luck?
Also be sure to verify the MD5 sum of the installer you downloaded from your online account to make sure it is the same (could be corrupt from download if it doesn't match).

Thanks for your quick answer
Using MD5 check, the downloaded file is perfect, same checksum
Right click the file, properties, compatibility, XP sp3 is not offered, only win 95, 98, 2000...
Here is the problem I suppose...therfore the icon is not recognized..
Thanks..

Well, I suppose if you have XP installed, it wouldn't show compatiblity options for itself - I imagine I see it since I'm running a newer OS.
If the installer is saying it's not supported for XP, I have no way to test at this time.
Please submit online feedback to Acronis directly through your account. This should also be a supported techncial case since it appears that it may be an application compatibiltiy issue. If 2016 v6027 was working and 6559 is not even able to install, it could very well be a compatibilty issue or bug - hopefully a support case would identify this to be the case or result in a work-a-round to get it installed in the meantime.

Thank you,
I'll do that in a few days, I've to leave for a week..
I suppose the problem occured with the first online upgrade of ATI 2015 to ATI 2016...
I've deleted the online upgrade files and donwnloaded the fullfiles..It's difficult to see if the first install is not correct when everything works well...or enough for your personnal use. I need only ATI for disk images recorded on external drives..and I always use them to backup systems if any problem occurs after any updates. On XP which is no more supported I'm workink virtually, except tu update softwares, but this sistem is still very usefull and simple..
Thank you for your help

According to the main Acronis product web site, ATIH 2016 is definitely supported on Windows XP SP3 unless this is a 64-bit system? (64-bit XP is not supported!).
That says that build 6559 should also be supported. I will see if I can test this when I have the time to do so.

All my XP systems on different stations are 32 bits, home or PRO...
There is sometrhing interferring with the install, perhaps a software I've on each system (all my XP systems content the same softwares), or is ther a bug into the innstaller, I'm not enough capable to test the problem...
ATI 6027 (XP) or 6559 (win7), is only installed on my desktop station..
I'll be back within a weak...
Best regards..

Guy, there are others reporting their AV has blocked the installer from running. Try disabling Antivirus first with this one. You should also consider "whitelisting" all of the Acronis default folders (C:\Program Files\Acronis, C:\Program Files\Common\Acronis, C:\Programdata\Acronis). Acronis needs some pretty low-level Windows access to run VSS and may be getting blocked by an AV program. Hasn't really been a problem with past releases, but this one has been getting a "false-positive" reaction in different AV appications.

On XP installation, AV AVAST was disabled. The core protection of the antivirus is always disabled because it is alaways blocking register defregmentation..
I'm using only a basic protection on this system, cause I'm working virtually with Shadowuser..
Maybe for ATI 6559, it is not enough

Ok, I have tested the ATIH 2016 build 6559 installation on my Windows XP SP3 system doing an upgrade from ATIH 2014 and all went through successfully without doing anything special with my Comodo Internet Security antivirus / firewall program suite.
I also had Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit installed which didn't interfere with the upgrade either.
So this problem does seem to be system specific to Guy's XP system here as mine is a pretty basic almost vanilla build of XP SP3 that I just use to run a DVR and security camera where the hardware won't work with any later version of Windows!
Copies of the successful installer logs attached for reference if needed.

Hello, I'm back
On XP I've uninstalled version 6559 with Revo, successfully this time...
Installation of version 6569 was OK, despite still no Acrfonis icons are recognized..(I've picked one up of previous version 6027...)
After backup, on closing application, the famous XP error message "memory cannot be Read" is back again...
But the .tib file is correct and verifyed..
At worst, full backup with rescue tool is also a good solution...
Maybe the further update (if considered) wil be the good one..
Best regards and thanks for help
