ATI Universal Restore not restoring

Thread needs solution

Hi:

I'm a new user for this feature (and the forum), so please be gentle! :)

I created a backup of the "C:" Drive on my desktop PC (Windows10 x64), using ATI2016 (Build 6559), and placed it on an external HD.

I then used ATI2016 (Build 6559) to create a Universal Restore media disk (CD)

I took both the CD and the Ext HD to a laptop  (ASUS Q200e) - also running Windows10 x64) - and tried to restore my back-up to the laptop.

The laptop boots to the CD, and I load the Universal Restore.
When I click OK, it tries to start, but I get several errors:

Setup failed to open  'oem[45, 46, 47, 48, 49].inf' and has skipped it (5 messages)
Applying Universal Restore has failed [Error code 61]
Acronis Universal Restore has failed [Error code 820]
Cannot create target file 'restore_aw_assistant.exe' [Error code 413]

At this point, I am not sure what to try. Let me know if there is any other info that I can provide to make things easier.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks...

Shawn

You first need to use the bootable True Image Recovery Media to restore the backup image to the target drive.  Once that is done you can then run the Universal restore media to complete the process of driver installation on the new hardware.

Ah ... I get it now ... that was not evident to me.  I presumed that the Universal Restore would do both of those steps.

Thanks Enchantech!

A common misconception.  Hope all worked out for you.

Great, glad to hear that!
