Retention policy doesn't work
Hi
I have a problem with my Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 Management server. (build 11.5.38350)
Some of my backup jobs do not follow a retention rule that i have set, and oddly enough some do. My setup is 28 machines being backed up to a management server.
I have 20 backup jobs that do follow the rule - mixed physical and VMs and 8 backup jobs that do not follow the same backup scheme/rule:
Backup Scheme: Custom
No schedule, they do it manually and they do full backup.
Clean up archive: Using retention rules-> On cleanup delete oldest. Exceeding value 2. After backup.
The backups are taken to a vault on a the management server.
I have tried the following:
- Quadruple checking the job scheme and comparing it to working jobs.
- Tried putting it on as a scheduled job
- Deleting and recreating the backup jobs.
- Deleting and recreating the vault.
- Switching a given backup job from Custom to Simple Scheme and back again.
- Adjusting retention rules up and down in numbers.
- Exporting the backup job and checking <configuration> <rule> -> <after_backup> which states value true

Hi Igor
The clean-up/replication does not remove the excess backups unfortunately
Furthermore, I have tried deleting the excess backups for a given backup-job, deleting all backups for a given backup job and removing the vault but to no avail.

Hello,
Do the manual tasks fail, get stuck or complete successfully and nothing is removed?
Thank you.

Hi Igor
The backup task, both launched as manual and scheduled, succeed and complete and nothing is removed.
Attached are:
- A .jpeg of the backups. Notice the # of backups.
- The backup jobs zipped and as .xml for reference (WKS05 and -08)
- .jpeg screendumps of the two above jobs as completed successful.

Hello Naia,
We've checked the provided scripts of faulty plans - all necessary lines have correct values
<after_backup>
true
</after_backup>
<backup_count_upper_limit>
2
</backup_count_upper_limit>
I would suggest checking the logs of Acronis Storage Node (select backups for deletion in the Archive-View of the affected vault, click on Delete and then navigate to the folder ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ASN\Logs or Documents And Settings\All Users\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ASN\Logs on olders systems, filter logs per data and open the latest) and if it does not help raising a support ticket for more indepth investigation.
Thank you,
