new Update 2015 - Update Fails "data1.cab file is corrupt or missing"

Thread needs solution

Acronis True Image 2015

Downloaded new 6613 - have 6525 build now

Click Update button
at 80% complete

"The cabinet file" data1.cab" required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM or a problem with this package".

I have searched the HDD and there is not an existing data1.cab on the HDD
These cab files are usually on a CD rom. I do not have a CD Rom

My original purchase was 2014 and was upgraded by Sanjay because we could not get 2014 to work
I downloaded the file and upgraded. Do not have a CD Rom

Hi Jan
Have you tried deleting and re-downloading the file before running again?

Thanks for you help. As Per your suggestion I did download again

The file '_0FB8F8CED3A4B3B1A15149BF4FFE628B' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'data1.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.

This error is different including this obscure filename. These cab files are typical for all windows installations. If this new update download is giving me this error then very likely others are getting it too.

In other words, maybe acronis should double-check the current update download themselves on a Windows 7 platforme.

I'm struggling with the same problem. To upgrade from 2015 I downloaded Home 2016 (build 5518) today three times 2x via Wlan and 1x via ethernet cable.
The first time I got the message you mentioned above. The second and third time I got the message:
"The cabinet file 'data1.cab'required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used'.

I did not overwrite the same file but created three different files each counting 387.469 kb.

Just last weekend, I went back to the download section in My Products, and got the latest download file... it worked. The Acronis coders have finally fixed this issue. Download the newest one and it will install right over the existing installation and keep your settings without the errors

Unfortunately it is still not working for me. I had this issue on my Surface 3 ( under Windows 10 ) and I just tried it on my PC ( also under Windows 10 ) and now end up with the message: "Installation has failed. This installation file cannot be opened. Contact the manufacturer."
And that's what I'm intent to do now.

I still get "a new update is available for TrueImage 2016 for 6569. I get the same error:

"The file '_2_xxxxx' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'data1.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package" Which means there is a PATH variable that is not set correctly in the installer or the environmental variables.

However looking at the end of the install log it says that build 6569 is already installed! I checked the version through the about/help and found that the installer actually updated the program but displays and error that it failed.  In the middle of the log it states that it could not find the registration code and gives the registry key it looked in. (Its looking in the wrong key).  This is why a re-installation works but an update does not. In a new install with the new package it asks for your registration key thus creating the registry key the update was looking for.

They should debug and beta test with a novice user before releasing the update.

The solution is to log into Acronis support, download the latest update (build 6569). Uninstall the current installation. Right click on the downloaded file and choose "install as administrator"  and the installer will complete without error.  In other words The acronis automatic update feature is broken. You will also continue to get the "there are new updates available". Just keep an eye on the build number through the website so you will know when to update. Hopefully the programmers at acronis will fix the automatic update code so its product will work as advertised.

Did you right click on the installer file and choose to run as administrator?

Hello Kevin,

Thank you for analyzing the installation log and sharing your experience with us. If you use "Send feedback" feature from "Help" tab, it would send installation log to us. In order to disable notifications about new updates availability while already having the latest build installed, you can reinstall the program with cleanup tool. Reboot the computer before installing the program anew.

Slava
