Shutdown or Reboot Failure
Folks:
From what I have searched, I am finding that shutting down or restarting my PC with Acronis True Image has been an ongoing problem for several versions. I am running version 2016 and I have one older Intel I5-3570K PC running on an upgraded Windows 10 and this problem happens all the time. The only way, I found from forum posts, was to permanently disabling all the Acronis Services before shutdown. I have tried to disable permanently some tasks but it will fail in the next 1 or 2 boots later. For your info, I did check the validity of my backup and it is okay.
Also, I do have another PC, an Intel i5-6600K which is running a Windows 10 OS (i.e., not an upgrade) but it DOES NOT experience this problem at all. I have the default Acronis Services running all the time.
What gives?

I reviewed the thread link. FYI, I have figured out why my upgraded Windows 10 PC failed miserably. The upgraded PC was running Acronis True Image 2011 on Windows 7. It has always been configured to backup in many different configurations (i.e., by @date@time, by disk, and etc.) When I upgraded to Windows 10 and Acronis True Image 2016, the PC still has all the backup configurations (10+.) In contrast to my newer PC, it has only 2 configurations. IMO, the saved multi configurations were the root of the problem.
On the upgraded PC, I removed all the backup configurations, except one. So far, I am able to shutdown and restart the PC without failure. In addition, I have restored the services to run as configured during installation.
Thanks.
Sorry:
Back to searching for the solution again! It failed!

Folks:
An Update.
So far, the Acronis True Image 2016 Build 6569 which was released recently seems to allow me to reboot or shutdown the PC quickly.
Correction: Sometimes it will stay on even though the monitor has been turned off. But it will continue working in the background. Once it was done, I can hear my USB speaker click off and the PC will turn off.

Glad to hear it! v6569 was supposed to address the "Operations in progress" message preventing some systems from shutting down. Now, if a backup is in progress it may still need time to stop the backup or finish up too. Do you use Cloud backup or Nonstop backup by any chance?

No, I do not have the Cloud backup. I have an eSata backup unit for the task. However, I am just glad that I am able to shut my I5-3570K down eventually!
