Backup fails using Boot Media (WinPE)

Thread needs solution

I made a Boot Media disk. When i attempt to backup using the boot media, the back ups fail to execute each time. I do not know if I can restore as I haven't made it that far to even attempt. I receive the below error.

Failed to execute the command.

Hello,

Did you get a username/password prompt when specifying the location \\jm-readynas\share\images\testbu\ as your backup destination? Was this accepted? Does the user you specified have the necessary privilages to write to this folder?

Thank you.

Yes I did get prompted for the uid/pwd. Yes the user in question does have rights.

Hello jmaque,

Do you get the same error under the Linux-based media? And if you specify the path via IP? Is the network share available in Windows Explorer from the same machine?

Thank you,

The linux based media is able to see the share and successfully backup on one of my test machines. However it cannot see the local drives on another of my test machines because it needs the RAID drivers. We have not had a chance to test on the new machines we need to backup because we ran out of them, but I will update once we do test.

I am able to browse to the network share using the WinPe boot media and the linux media.

I am getting the same error but for newer version (I have 44397 and tried x86 version)

Bootable Linux 11.7 works OK

Bootable WinPE 11.7:

  • allow to browse for files
  • allow to create subfolders so I have write rights (and credentials are proper)
  • but fails with "Access is denied" error when I click [OK] to start backup process
  • i've created iso automatically by Acronis 11.7 to get "clean" Acronis bootable CD - still doesn't work.

I returned to old WinPE generated by Acronis 11.5 and it works OK for network shares (but cannot write to Acronis 11.7 Vaults)

iso created by Acronis 11.7.44397 on WinADK for Windows 8.1

This was reported over 3 months ago by multiple people and Acronis has still yet to address or fix the issue. This is suppose to be business class software?
