Transferring everything on a new PC
Hi there,
I just bought the "True Image 2016" for 1 PC and backed up my "Entire PC" to an external disk F:/ drive). I've purchased a new PC which probably will be delivered tomorrow. Is "restoring" the "Entire PC" from F:/ drive to my new PC the proper way to go? Basically, I only need certain applications with their relative data to be restored to the new PC plus a bunch of photos and videos.
Thanks
Stavros

Hello Stavros,
Will your new PC come installed with Windows 10? What OS is on your current PC that you are replacing?
How similar are the two PC's in terms of hardware and disk drives?
If you are only wanting certain applications with their relative data then can you not just install those applications on the new PC and transfer the data for them?
In order to restore your 'Entire PC' backup to completely different hardware requires the use of Acronis Universal Restore in order to render the restored OS ready for use on the different hardware, and then you may need to provide additional device drivers for any of the new hardware that is needed to successfully boot the new PC with the old OS.
One important point, is that you cannot use ATIH 2016 to migrate programs and applications between systems except when restoring a full backup using AUR.
I would recommend looking at: 117004: Great Acronis "How-To" videos and other Acronis Resources also see: 56637: Acronis True Image 2016: Restoring to Dissimilar Hardware with Acronis Universal Restore
