Backup hangs

Thread needs solution

I have tried to backup 2 different computers and the backup hangs at 28 minutes left. I am backup up to a seagate external drive that is 3 TB. I started using the 2014 version because the 2009 version gave problems with 3 TB drive. I boot to a USB flash and run backup outside Windows. The 2009 version would never load to the USB with the 3 TB plugged in it would just reboot after selecting True Image 2009.

Win7User,

I have probably more questions to ask than answers to give you..

Do you have the latest build version of ATIH 2014 - 6688 and did you use this to create your USB flash media?
Are you using the standard Acronis Rescue Media version, i.e. Linux based, on the USB media?
Have you tried to do the backup from within Windows 7 using ATIH 2014?
Have you tried doing this with a different, smaller external drive, i.e. 2TB or less in size?

I have the build I first installed built 4515. This is True Image 2014. I do not like the new versions. I have used this version just fine with no problems until a couble of days ago. I tried 2 different computers and have the same problem. I was suspecting the external drive to be bad. I am running the seatools test on it been running almost 6 hours. I went ahead and got everything off the external. How do I get the latest build?

You should be able to download the latest build or bootable rescue media ISO file from your Acronis Account.

I guess I got to get the new 2016 version. I aucually had the 2016 version but requested a refund. It just was not user friendly and it did the same thing. For the version I have in my account (2014) it saids I have an OEM version and need to contact the OEM.  I purchased this off ebay maybe that was a mistake. The seller did not seem to know much and did not want to help.

The drive test just completed and it is good. I just do not understand why I have this trouble. When I had 2009 version it was working fine with backup's and I got a new 3 TB external and the program would reboot and not load with the 3 TB. So I got the 2014 version and it worked fine until this week that is why I suspected the drive because the backup's it stalled on 2 computers and also had trouble with 2016 version. I will try the backup from within windows now.

Thanks for the help. I am running the backup in Windows right now. It shows 42 minutes remaining. I will see if it completes. If it does I have an extra drive I can do a test restore on and see if there are any problems. I do know the last USB flash i was using went bad but tried on a different one and have the same issue. I will reply back if I have any issues. Thanks

Just to update. The backup completed from within Windows. I just don't understand why I had the problems. I have used computers for years and have had many many things to blow my mind. The external the reason I thought it was bad is because every time I would plug it in I would get prompted to run chkdsk /f. I got everything off then deleted the partition. I checked it with seatools and it was good. Now I am copieing everything back. The drive I copied everything to was a 500 GB sata. I tried to clone to the USB from within Windows and it would not give the USB external as a destanation. So I am using Tera Copy prettey good alternative.
