Where can I view the 2016 TI backup and restore log file?

Use MVP FTRPilot's log viewer tool - it's the best there is until Acronis brings this back and it's a very nice app.

Thanks for the information, not sure why they took that out.  Also, I noticed I can't get rid of old backups by starting a restore, then right click and delete.  This use to work well as it also deleted data from TI's data base.  Did they also take that away or is there another way I haven't discovered?  Thanks for your help.

Yup, also removed :(  The only way to clean up old backups in the app is to use a cleanup schedule.  You can manually delete them in Windows File Explorer, but then have to start the validation or recovery process (don't actually have to do either though).  When prompted that the files are missing, choose to "ignore" them until they are all ignored and that will update the database.  Lot's of people asking for the old cleanup method to be brought back - please continue to submit feedback through the app about this as well!

I will submit that feed back now.  There is one backup I want to save and it will be deleted as I say only keep three copies and it is next to go.  So I will rename it and try out the verify and choose the ignore.  Then I shouldn't get error, don't know what happens when a backup gets an error with no log, need to go download thet app you mention to print log.

Jer,

You can copy a backup anywhere you want to hold onto it for posterity.  I do this all the time and then just restore with the offline media or import it back into the application when needed.  Typcially though, I use these copied backup only with the offline recovery media to keep things simple.  The reason being that Acronis needs/wants unique backup names in the application so if you have a current backup with that name already, you don't really want to try and import the old backup with the same name at the same time.  All of the database tracking, names, etc are only limited in the Windows application of Acronis.  Any older backups though, can be called on from the offline bootable recovery media - regardless or name, location, etc... the only stipulation is that it must be a good backup with all files in the backup chain (especially important if trying to recover an incremental that relies on incrementals that occured before it).

After running full Acronis backup, screen had a green check mark that all was okay, but the log has an error code in red that is about 100 plus characters, but here is the second line:

log id=14;  level=2;  module=11;  code=1031;  date/time=7/6/2016 09:11:31

All looks okay, but just was wondering why, it was after a sucessful backup message and around the time the deleting of oldest backup would take place.  The oldest backup was deleted and I have 3 full backups like I should.

Jer, without seeing the full log file where the error code was given it is difficult to comment on why this was given, though please understand that Acronis does put some diagnostic type messages into the logs which are not intended for general user information.

You can see the above if you compare the log messages that are included in Email Notifications with those shown in the Log File Viewer app.  Acronis only notify of errors when there is a real issue.

This is the whole log, don't think there is anything secure I shouldn't post? I only run full backups and only save 3 copies and that is what happened, iit added backup 13 and deleted 10.

Jer, I would say that this is 'normal' although a little disconcerting - I can give an example from my own laptop with a very similar sequence which still ends as being successful.

id=7;  level=2;  module=100;  code=0;  date/time=25/06/2016 19:06:17
          message=The backup has been successfully created.

          message=Operation has succeeded.

As I mentioned before, Acronis have told us not to pick up on every message shown in the logs as some are included purely as diagnostic to be used by the developers.  Personally, these should be able to be switched off in the normal, day to day use of the application.

The use of Consolidate in these messages is also misleading and has been raised in the MVP forums as this goes back to when that was a feature of the application.  There is no consolidation today as that is replaced by automatic cleanup rules.

Thanks for responding, that is a strange error code, seems to me most would at least be in hex instead of that garbage.
