Win 10 to Win 8.1

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have a bought and paid for Windows 8.1. Microsoft upgraded it to Windows 10. I developed problems with Windows 10. I got the Windows 10 after I got and started using True Image 2016.

Can someone please tell me if it will work to go back to Windows 8.1  and to use my Windows 10 True Image 2016 back up ?  I hope Windows 8.1 will be more stable than Windows 10. I hope True Image 2016 is backward compatable with Windows ?

I hope I am making sense. I am somewhat nervous about this. I hope to save as much of my data as possible, dating back to 1996.

Thank you so much,

Wayne

Wayne, I am not sure that I understand what you are proposing here?  How will you go back to Windows 8.1 (unless you are still within 30 days of the upgrade from 8.1 to 10)?

If you have an Acronis 2016 backup of your full Windows 10 system, then you have the option of booting from the Acronis Rescue media (DVD or USB stick) and restoring your backup over the top of Windows 10 without needing to go back to 8.1.

The alternative, and perhaps the recommended method of dealing with the issues you have with Windows 10 is to perform an in-place upgrade of Windows 10 as happens whenever Microsoft release a new point upgrade of the product.

See webpage: How to Do a Repair Install of Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade which will guide your through the process and includes a video tutorial.

Thank you Mr. Smith,

My head is thinking, my present OS, Win 10 is unstable.

I would like to go back to Win 8.1.

I have a Win 8.1 install disc. the system disk, what ever it is called.

What I would like to do is wipe my hard drive. Then re-install my OS from my Win 8.1 install disk.

Then pull my data and personal info from my True Image , Win 10 backup to my new Win 8.1 OS.

My True Image backup is located on a second hard drive that I use only to store my True Image backups

I do not know if it will work, Will I be able to re-install Win 8.1, then pull my stuff off a True Image backup saved with Win 10 ?

This is to try to make myself a little more clear. I am going to the links you provided. I will get other ideas on how to handle this

I do Thank you for your response. It is truly appreciated,

Wayne

Should work fine.  The backup images are not tied to the OS specifically.  If you only need to restore data from the backups (like the content within my documents, etc) then yes, you can still mount those and copy/paste from them in Windows.  Alternatively, you can use your bootable recovery media and restore the data to somewhere on the drive as well and then cut and paste it to where you would like.  I don't think you can restore your entire profile from Win 10, but should be able to get the important stuff from within it like documents, downloads, favorites, etc.

Thanks and Everything.
