Scheduled backup stuck at 0%, unable to stop
Hello,
I was just checking my backup history and noticed that one of my backup tasks has an issue and has not been working for a while now but has gone unnoticed.
All my backups are local, from folders on one disk to a different one in my computer. I have five tasks set up, four are working poroperly, one is not.
For the bad one, if I select it, Ti shows that it is at 0% complete all the time. If I right click on the task and tell it to stop it asks me if I am sure I want to stop it, and I answer yes but it never stops and at the bottom on the screen it keeps saying 'Calculating remaining time'.
Rebooting/power-cycling my computer has no effect.
Does anyone know how to fix this
I am using Ti 2016 build 6571 on a Windows 10 Pro machine
thanks

Hi Steve,
thanks for your help.
I managed to locate the script file corresponding to the problemmatic backup task. I downloaded and ran the scheduler manager program as administrator but 'Get list' is not working:
inst=yes start=no loc task=0-0 > Get list
Id ExecApp ExecCmd
--- ---------------
Error: 1722 (0x6BA) - The RPC server is unavailable.
inst=yes start=no loc task=0-0 >
I checked in task manager and the only Acronis program which is currently running is the Scheduler Manager
Do I need to restart Ti before running the Scheduler Manager App?

bbear, please check the RPC Service on your system is started.
Click on Start, then type services.msc to open the Services panel, then scroll down and look for the entries for the RPC services - see screen shot below from my Win 10 system which has two 'running' RPC services active.

Hi Steve,
it looks like the RPC service control manager is running
The other RPC service is not, and that one lists as 'manual', the same as your screenshot

I shut down my computer and Windows said that some process was running, it was something about Windows Update. So I told Windows to shut down anyway.
It has come back up and Ti now shows that the problematic bacup was ran succesfully two days ago (it did not say that before). Also I was able to manually run the task and it completed ok.
Could the Windows Update somehow have been stalling the Ti scheduler?
Anyway, I will keep an eye on it for the next few days and see if the problem occurs again.
Thanks for your help

Steve,
the problem happened again tonight. I stopped all the Acronis tasks as you suggested, then ran the scheduler manager but 'Get list' still said that the RPC server is not running.
However, I then started the Acronis again, and decided to try the task manager while Acronis was still running and now I can see the list of scripts..
inst=yes start=yes loc task=0-0 > Get list

Did I misunderstand your original instructions, was I supposed to run the scheduler manager before I stopped all the Acronis processes?

bbear, sorry my mistake here about ending all the Acronis tasks, that was intended to try to get you out of the backup task that was stuck at 0%.
We all are learning new things in these forums I am sure, I have learnt that the Scheduler Manager needs the Acronis tasks to be running else will give the RPC error you encountered!
Now that you can use Get list and see a listing of your scheduled tasks, you can now continue with the other steps below:
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts and open each of the .tis files that you see there and look for the name of your backup task that is giving the problem, which will be shown in the <display>Task Name</display> section. Open these files with Notepad or any standard text editor.
Find your problem task script name in the Scripts folder and then look for that name in the Scheduler Manager get list output, note the task id at the beginning of the line, i.e. 1-2.
Issue the command task 1-2 to select that task, then the further command task delete which will remove the scheduled entry for that one task.

Steve,
Ti has been behaving itself for the past couple of days and so I have not needed to use the schedular manager to delete a scheduled task. If the problem happens again I will be sure to refer back to your post for the instructions,
