Problem with Pre-Post command (advanced options)

Thread needs solution

I have created a batch file that uses WOL (Wake-on-LAN) to wake up the file server that I want to backup to.

I have verified that this batch file works with "Test command" in True Image 2016.

My problem is that when I initiate the backup, True Image first tries to open the network share on the file server, before execute the Pre-command batch. This fails, of course, since the machine is not up yet. Basically, True Image is not executing the batch file early enough. It really needs to execute it before anything else. Can this please be fixed ?

Looks like it works except for the initial backup. If I perform the initial ackup with the remote server on, then subsequent backups (incrementals) work properly.

The bug is in this situation :

1) turn on remote server

2) create backup settings

3) select destination on remote server

4) set the Pre-command to the batch file to wake up the server

5) put server machine to sleep

6) click "backup" to perform the initial backup

-> at this point, True Image tries to access the network share on the server . It even prompts for credentials. It does so before executing the pre-command.

The backup fails, and all the backup settings are deleted !

If one skips step 5) above, step 6) works. Then I can subsequently repeat steps 5-6 successfully - ie. True image properly runs the pre-command in step 6,b before accessing the target network share.

Also, it's not possible to edit any backup settings - for example, schedule, while the target server is down (sleeping) .

Hi Julien, good testing and thanks for pointing this out.  I would suggest submitting it directly to Acronis via the in app feedback tool to register it as well.  Perhaps, also consider joining the 2017 beta testing so you can test if the behavior still exists in 2017 and would be more likely to get it resolved or at least addressed before the final version is released (or as a something on the radar for early updates).
