Backing up to a NAS drive, but I keep getting "Network location is unavailable at the moment"

Thread needs solution

We have Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 for SBS installed on our server, but we are experiencing problems when we leave the backup plan running.

The vault is located on a NAS drive (Buffalo Linkstation #LS-WX4.0TL/R1).

The backup runs and will then come up with the error message 262,154(0x4000A) saying that the Network location is unavailable at the moment. When you click on Retry, it will work.

Obviously I need to this to run unattended, so this is my first problem. The other problem, is that despite the backup saying it has completed successfully (after spending all day clicking retry), the archive doesnt actually exist in the vault? Though I presume this problem will go away when I fix the network unavailable problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Mark

Hello Mark!

Welcome to our Forum, it's nice to have you with us! I understand your concern and will be glad to help you.

Unfortunately due to the lack of sufficient diagnostic information it's hard to identify the exact cause of the issue. As a workaround I can suggest you enabling silent mode: it's available under additional backup options in the error Handling Section. It will allow to run the backup without User interaction. You can find more information about it in the User's Guide, page 100.

Still since the issue appears to be network/connection related, I cannot guarantee that Silent mode will solve the problem. It's hard to say for sure what was the exact cause, so this situation requires investigation. Could you please gather the following information?

  1. Acronis Info from the problem machine
  2. Wireshark output

After that please kindly contact support directly with the information attached. Keep in mind that should there be any procrastination with the reply, you can always specify us the case number. We will do our best to speed up the process.
