Failed Restore

Thread needs solution

I am running fully installed and perfectly working WIN10 machine. Just upgraded to V12 and made "entire machine" backup. Proceeded to restore this backup on identical computer I use for travel, restoring entire machine. (It always worked with Win7 and acronis V10 same with Win8.1 and V11.5)

After restore computer will not boot. Just blank black screen.

Any idea what's wrong? Thank you!

addition to previous post. started another restore and got this message:

Acronis Active Restore:

"This archive contains an operating system that uses UEFI for booting. The active restore is not supported for such operating systems."

The backup is from computer with WIN10.

Hi Dana,

Blinking coursor typically means that the boot sector was not written properly or if you try to boot an UEFI system in BIOS mode or vice versa. Such issues require separate investigation. Assuming that you have performed recovery via Acronis bootable media, please capture system report while booting the target system which doesn't boot with blinking coursor from this media (Help->Collect System Report). Then capture the same report from the source machine where you've taken backup from: in Acronis Backup 12 web console go to "Activities->Collect system information from the management server" . With these 2 reports please contact our support team for further analysis.

Thank you.
