ATI 9 on Win ME can't backup any more, can't update
I still have programs that I use on my Win ME computer. I have previously made several backups with ATI 9.0 build 2323, but now I get error 0x70021, unable to create volume snapshot, when trying to do a differential or full backup. I have disconnected from the network & turned off AV & Firewall. Have run scandisk on both drives (fixed errors on the c: drive), this doesn't help. I have 19 GB used, 9 GB free on the computer's hard disk, 30 GB free on the backup USB hard drive (I installed a card with USB 2 ports, it works well). I downloaded & ran SnapAPI.222_s_e.exe which is said to be for ATI 9, but still get the same error.
AS a separate but related issue I am unable to update to ATI 9 build 3854. It says Installation was interrupted. This happens even if I run it in safe mode or use msconfig to prevent loading startup items and system.ini and win.ini. (There are 2 instances of Acronis Scheduler2Service in startup items, I dunno why). I'll attach the msi log. I have only tried installing over the previous version, I don't want to chance uninstalling the old one in case it's still usable, since I have trouble installing the new build.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Thanks Scott
Yep, removing the old installation was key. ATI seems to be working again, after reinstalling.
Ive seen an ATI Cleaner for newer versions; Revo uninstaller was also recommended, but it doesn't run on ME. In my case I didn't need extreme measures, but I am still curious if there is an ATI cleaner for version 9.0, for Win ME? Or can anyone recommend a reliable registry cleaner for ME?
Thanks

If you want a free and super safe cleaner, get ccleaner.exe. It has a mdoe for cleaning temp files and other crap from the pc. Also has a registry cleaning mode that's very safe.
If you want heavy duty, I like JV16 powertools. The reg cleaner mode can be set for very safe or more aggessive searching for orphans and other stuff. Also has an uninstaller mode that's very thorough. And it has a registry search that's very useful for cleaning out stuff leftover from gosh knows when.
