Basic Secure Zone question

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I havent used Secure Zone yet, and I intend to do a clean reinstall of my desktop PC before using SZ.

First, and not really part of my query, I have some issues with my Dell trying to make my D HDD the primary bootable media, when in fact it is the mSata unit fitted to the mobo.

So I would like to be clear about aspects of TrueImage - specifically Secure Zone - before I do a clean reinstall of the computer.

Underneath is a pic of my SSD mSata drive partitions on my SSD drive.

I want to be able to access the secure zone in order to retrieve a basic clean image of my cleanly installed Windows 10  C drive, (consisting of Windows 10 OS  loaded with some of my apps).  This procedure is meant to save me time if I need a an easy and rapid restore of a corrupted C drive back to a clean Windows 10 Day 1 installation.

Question1

Would the SZ install on the drive that is shown in the pic, or will it cause problems for Windows 10 such as an inability to boot or the dreaded BSOD?

Question 2

What's the simplest/better way of storing the disk image in the secure zone?  I dont know if I  should simply put a Win 10 ISO in the SZ and run install from there... Or copy the C drive into the SZ?  What's the best way?  (Apologies for my naive grasp of something I havent used)

Question 3

Would the SZ best be put at the beginning of the drive?

Question 4

Finally is it likely any Cryptlocker virus might mess up the SZ? In which case putting the image of the C drive in it might be a waste of time.

Thanks guys for any help.

Pete

ASZ can be installed on any available drive though normally it would be on the OS boot drive.  ASZ is just another partition with a type used only by Acronis, so this should not cause any issues in booting or BSOD's.

Only ATIH can write to the ASZ, this partition should not be touched outside of Acronis and you should not try to store any non Acronis files such as your Win 10 ISO or C: drive files in the ASZ.  ATIH manages all the content of the ASZ and would remove that non Acronis content.  If you want to have a place for such files, then create a separate partition.

Acronis will always control where the ASZ is put, this will be at the end of either the drive or the partition from where you allocate the space to be used for the ASZ.

Yes, it is possible that a Cryptlocker or other encrypting / ransomware type virus could attack the contents of the ASZ - it is visible in Windows Explorer and therefore any virus gaining Administrator privileges could potentially encrypt the contents.

Thank you so much Steve

For me that is a very clear an excellent reply to my questions.

I really appreciate your speedy help in a form I can completely understand.
