How to create a folder in PATH field
Hi, I'm trying to set up a backup policy so I can backup drive C on some computers, but I want to have each backup in the folder named like %MachineName%. I can setup one policy and deploy it on these machines and put all backups in one place in one folder and name each backup as %MachineName%_disk_c.tib or so, but I can not use the the same task and put in the PATH field of backup something like \\Storage\BAckups\%MachineName% . Please advise. I'm using ABR 10 Adv server + UR , latest build. Thanks, Nico

Hi Anton,
thanks for quick reply,
the picture you sent me doesn't change anything for me I cannot put smth. like %MachineName% or other variable in the PATH field.
I can use variable in the file name but not in the PATH.
I think this is very obvious situation: IYou have 50 pcs and want to setup only one policy to backup all PC's and put each backup in a separate folder. Even if i create some folders (manualy create folders and name them as computers FQDN names), I can not use variable %MachineName% as a folder name.
thanks, Nico

We are looking for this same solution. We have 30 machines backing up to a centralized NAS currently. All machines are configured by the same backup policy to keep management overhead low. However, when we have 3 weeks of backups (full on Saturday, incremental daily) multiplied by 30 machines, the folder becomes unruly. Additionally, 'browsing' the folder when restoring is very slow.
As such, we think allowing the %MachineName% variable in the folder path when backing up to a centralized location is an ideal solution. We look forward to seeing this in a future release of Acronis Backup & Recovery.
