Acronis True Image 2013 PP backup - .tlb is 2x+ size of files being backed up
Hello-
Wondering if this is a common occurance. I'm backing up a hard drive by booting from the iso for 2013 True Image Plus Pack. I backed up a drive that Windows is reporting as 801 GB. The resulting .tlb file is 1.76 TB I did not do a sector by sector backup. I selected maximum compression. Quite a few of the larger files are .mp4 video files. Why is the backup > 2x the size of the original files?
Is this a common occurance with True Image?
Thanks!

Andrew, have you tried looking inside the backup archive file (1.76TB) to see what has been included and compared that against the source drive?
You can mount the archive file as a drive letter and then use a file / folder size utility such as TreeSizeFree to see where there are differences in size.
Note: that some file types such as your .mp4 video files are already highly compressed and ATIH cannot compress them further regardless of setting it to use maximum compression.

I have opened the .tib file in Windows and it appears it only contains the files from this particular drive - no others.
I have a license for Beyond Compare- I'll do the comparison. Thanks for the suggestion.
I'm not expecting the .mp4 files to be compressed further- but surprised that the .tib file is 2x size of the files on my disk!
