Restore to a new computer!

Thread needs solution

My laptop died.  I have purchased a new laptop.  I want top resoter folders from the TIB file that was a backup form the original backup.  I know I can drag and drop.  I don't want to do the I want to select multiple directories fromt the TIB file and restore to the new laptop.  I can't find that option in  TI 2015.  I have done it with previous versions.

Can someone help?

You should be able to right click on the .tib file and select mount. The archive will then become a windows drive that you can navigate using windows explorer to locate and copy files. Double clicking on the .tib file should also produce the same result. If its a file and folders backup you should be able to restore them. Not sure if its a backup archive.

Edit:

In TI 2016 if you open the application one of the choices at the bottom of the screen is "Recover Files". I don't have TI 2015 but I assume it is the same. You will have to make the hard drive from your old laptop easily available to do this.

Ron, in the main ATIH 2016 application GUI, where you see your list of Backup Tasks, when you select one of the backup tasks, you should see three buttons on the bottom of the panel, depending on the type of backup.

These buttons are Options, Recovery disks and Recover files.  See attached screen image.

Here is what I see on my screen.  I am attached to the USB Hard Drive that the original laptop created the TIB file on!

Ron, the reason why you cannot see any options to recover (disks or files) is because it says 'Never performed' at the top of the screen.  As far as ATIH is concerned there is nothing to recover because there is no backup file to recover from.

If you have a backup in your backups folder, then click on the (V) icon at the bottom and select to Add existing backup and then navigate to where this is stored to add it.

The import that Steve mentioned should do the trick. If it's still not giving you the option to restore, then un a validation of the backup first.  Once validated then you should have the option to recover.

FYI.. if you want to just full files/folders from teh backup, just navigate to the backup .tib file in Windows Explorer and double click on it - it should open up and allow you to copy and paste out of it.  Alternatively, you can usually right click and "mount" the backup too.  Sometimes though, you have to validate first before these options are available.
