Serial number for Acronis True Image Unlimited - Why is that needed?

Thread needs solution

I have subscription for Acronis True Image Unlimited that expires Apr 8, 2017. I bought that subscription when TI2016 was released.

Now when i installed TI2017 i have an option to enter a serial number under my Account tab in TI2017 in order to be able to activate the product. For some reason the serial number i got when i bought TI2016 don´t work.

I have a subscription of Adobe Creative Cloud and no serial numbers are needed anymore and i thought Acronis were thinking the same. IOW, subscription=No serial number.

Do anyone else than me have issues entering the serial number in TI2017?

Additional info:
Since i already have a valid subscription i just downloaded the TI2017 installer, so i never bought/added a new subscription and thus never got a new serial number.

I understand that serieal numbers for ATI 2017 are automatically added to the account of all users who had a Acronis 2016 cloud subscription. I found an unknown serial number in my Account and was told that was what it is for. So far I have only installed ATI 2017 on one of three coputers, and that was an in-place upgrade. At no stage was I asked for a serial number.

I do only have TI2016 serials and older serials on my Acronis account. On the other hand i have not yet received any official mail from Acronis regarding the update. (I live in Sweden and they seems to roll out TI2017 updates region by region rather than worldwide at the same time.)

It was the same for me.

Roger, reach out to technical support via chat.  All license and registration issues should go through them as only Acronis has direct access to accounts, licenses, subscriptions and cloud services.  I'm sure they can help you sort this out.  I have a feeling that different regions have different release times, but I can only guess.

Here we go again. Everytime Acronis releases a new version the licensing is screwed up. After the upgrade no serial number is shown. There is a selection to enter serial number but 2016 serial number doesn't work. It's not even worth the extra effort to upgrade.

I have a dim recollection that I had a phantom serial number with ATI 2016; it eventually disappeared.

The management of serial numbers seems to have become more difficult in recent years.

Is the attached screenshot what everybody else is seeing after upgrading from 2016 Cloud to 2017 Subscription?

Yes, that´s what i see as well.

For the moment i am awating an answer from Acronis regarding this and will update this thread when i get the answer.

How to find the new serial number:
1. Go to https://www.acronis.com/en-us/my/products/
2. Log in
3. Click on "GET ALL SERIALS"
4. Save and open the text file.
5. When done, add the topmost serial in TI2017.
6. Click Activate.
7. Done.

There are several ways to get the serial and this is the first time i got the serial for TI2017...

Unfortunately that won't work for me. I have three cloud licenses for three computers each. Only one subscription license for three computers is available. When I upgraded to 2016 cutomer service told me only one upgrade was allowed per account. I told them I was NOT creating another account. They finally gave me another license. Do I really want to go through this again. I think not.

Not sure if this is a good work-around or not, but last time I checked the prices of a full licence was the same as for an upgrade. So I got new 5 user licence rather than the upgrade version.

I activated 2017 using the procedure outlined by Roger A. My account screen still looks like the one in my above post. Why does it still say enter serial number?

Mine is the same - there's no reason to enter the serial # if it is showing your account active already though.  It's not telling you that you need to do this, but the option is not hidden either.
