ATIH 2013: Disk space requirements

Thread needs solution

The user manual says that TIH2013 requires 1.5 GB of disk space. I don't have that much space on my Windows partition.

Is it true that ATIH2013 needs this much space?

Does the free space have to be on the Windows partition? Can it be on another hard drive?

Chris, my reading of the ATIH 2013 User Guide: Minimum system requirements the 1.5GB disk space requirement is for the ATIH 2013 Rescue Media, not for the main GUI application.

True Image 2013 rescue media has the following hardware requirements:

  • 512 MB RAM
  • Processor Pentium 1 GHz or faster
  • 1.5 GB of free space on a hard disk

The recommended screen resolution is 1280 x 1024.

The minimum screen resolution is 1024 x 768.

I would expect that the free space is for the purpose of storing temporary files duing a backup operation when using the rescue media, as otherwise all operations would need to take place in memory.

Interestingly, I checked the same section in the ATIH 2017 User Guide: Minimum system requirements and it has the same 1.5GB free space requirement for the application with no mention of it being just for the rescue media?

Steve,

My experience (over the past days) is that ATIH2013 needs almost 1500 MB free on the Windows partition to install. This is truly surprising! TI failed to install with 534 MB free on the Windows partition, and lots of space in other partitions of this hard drive (and GBs on another drive).

I now have TI installed, after hours of carefully deleting files in the Windows tree. TI installed with 1.34 GB free.

Chris, thanks for feeding back your findings, I guess I haven't needed to install the product on a system with so constrained disk space, so haven't encountered this personally.
