Can you install Acronis on a mac but clone a windows drive?
Hi, I have not bought Acronis yet but need to decide whether to install it on a a macbook or windows machine. My preference is to install on the mac, but I need to know if there would be any issues with cloning a failing windows drive to a new replacement hard drive? Or, am I better off just installing Acronis on a windows-based machine?

Is Acronis Bootable Media a part of Acronis True Image or a separate product all together?

Its included free :)
Once you register your product. You can download it from your Acronis User Acct. The latest build of it and the software version your own is always available to you. Have a look.

Ok thanks. I am working on a friend's PC, so if I install acronis on her windows machine that has the failing drive, can I uninstall it an reinstall it on my pc that I will use in the future after getting this one repaired?

Even easier than that. Register the serial number and you can download the .iso of the bootable media without installing. Use it to clone or back up and install the product where you want when you're ready.

So, I installed the software, selected CLONE, chose the source then destination, and after choosing PROCEED, I was asked to restart. Will the process continue on it's own, or do I need to relaunch something?

Please look at the first link I provided above. Clone Disk Wizard. This gives an overview of the process, mentions my recommendation of boot media and provides step by step instructions.

Using the WINDOWS bootable recovery media (the Windows .iso downloaded from your account as shadowreports states up above), start with #2 of this thread on the Windows machine:

FYI... even though there are no restrictions using the bootable media on different systems... technically/legally, you should have a license of the software for each machine you use it on. If you really wanted to be accurate with the license terms, then uninstalling it from the Mac and then using it on the other machine would be the proper way to do it. But, there are no limitations with the recovery media that require you to go through the process so it's up to you to use it how you see fit.
