I have an error "failed backup" The error mressage says i should remnove it from the l;ist by selecting browse my backup, but there is no such button anywhere and the documentation is impenetrable. How am i supposed to recover from the failed backup? It is failing regularly, so i need to know.

Paul, we will need some further information to understand why you are seeing the failed backup message, so please download and use the Log File Viewer app from the link in my signature below, then you can use this to see the what messages are being written in the Service logs that will hopefully provide enough information to decide how to resolve the error message.

Paul, thanks for sharing the log file data.  The first error that I see in the log says:

id=7  The file is corrupted.

This is followed by further messages saying the same and with reference to %VS_PATH%\ which would suggest that you may be encountering a Microsoft VSS issue. VSS is used to create the snapshot data for the backup.

I would suggest two things to start with here:

  1. Run CHKDSK /F /R against all the drives involved in the backup to ensure that you have no bad sectors that could contribute to file corruption - this will include checking the temporary space used by MS VSS to store snapshot data for the backup.
  2. Disable VSS for this specific backup task by following the advice given in post: https://forum.acronis.com/forum/45832#comment-346558

One further thought, please ensure that ATIH 2017 is running with Administrator privileges and not as a non Admin user.
