Cloning W10 C Drive to Larger external Drive for replacement

Thread needs solution

Windows 10 Desktop C Drive full

C drive is 1 TB, and has warned near capacity.  >880 GB in applications and other files

Have removed un-needed files and cleared recycle and temp files to get to 880GB

Used Acronis 2014 to clone a 2 TB drive (bootable clone selected)  in a USB Dock, - took around 10 hours...  but...

Removed existing C drive and installed the new cloned drive which failed to boot.

Appears Acronis 2014 not compatible with Windows 10, and I apparently didn't have other settings set well or use correct procedures...

Need some help here....

Have upgraded to Acronis TI 2017

Richard

As you have found TI 2014 does not work with windows 10. If you haven't yet tried with 2017 it is recommended that you you clone only while booted from the rescue CD/USB drive. I also recommend that you make a backup of the drive before cloning in case something goes wrong.

Thanks,

I have TI 2017 and have made an Acronis rescue CD/USB CD Drive...

Acronis 2014 did produce the clone on the external drive I've taken a look... But no boot.

Original drive working, so tonight I'll attempt a repeat loading from the rescue CD

Thanks again..

Richard
