ATI2017

Thread needs solution

The $20.99 price is very attractive but I wonder if to get it I must give up my present ATI2014.  I really like it and while I am willing to take a chance that ATI2017 is an approvement I don't want to give up the assurance that I can continue to use ATI2014.  Can someone direct this to someone who can answer this quuestion.  Many thanks.....long time user.....C. Charles, if you purchase ATIH 2017 you are getting a separate license to the product that you can use on a different system to your ATIH 2014, or if you are wanting to try it out, then you could take a full backup of your system with ATIH 2014 with the thought that if you don't like 2017 you could revert back to that backup image.

Your ATIH 2014 license will still work if you wish to use that on a different computer though you may get messages to tell you that you have exceeded the number of activations for the product, which will then take you through the options to move the license from your current system to the new one.

What you cannot do is have multiple different versions of ATIH installed on the same system.  2017 will overwrite the 2014 installation by writing to the same folders, overwriting the same program files by name with later versions etc.

Check out 58578: Acronis True Image 2017 FAQ (https://kb.acronis.com/ati2017/faq) where is says:

If you already have Acronis True Image 2014 or older versions, you need to delete these first and then install Acronis True Image 2017.

It does not appear that it is necessary to use the Cleanup tool after removing ATI 2014 - but I would recommend doing a reboot before installing ATI 2017.

OOps, I am one of those who didn't read all there was to know and I missed this.  However, ATI2017 seems to have perfectly installed.    I did have ATI2014 installed before and it covered every existing .exe file with the new ones.  Do you think I need to take some further steps now?  CEB

Charles, if you are not seeing any problems with ATIH 2017 then I wouldn't worry at this time - you can always do a clean install in the future should it become necessary.
