Upgraded from Trueimage 2015 to 2017 - BUGS PART 2

Thread needs solution

I am backing up my Google pixel cellphone, scanned the QR code.. I've connected so far so good.

Rather than prompting for the destination (which is what I would expect) it is automatically pointing to a default file path on the C drive, so now I'm fidding around trying to find out how to change the destination as I can't seem to click on the destination folder as I would expect. Finally I hit the down arrow on the pixel entry and all I get is an option "Move" - huh? I haven't even done a backup yet.

So anyway at least I get a "Select Location" button from this move option, but guess what.. unlike the normal computer backup there is no option for NAS!! (no "My NAS connections"). So I try typing in file paths manually like:
\\SYNOLOGY.HOME\Backups\Acronis\MYCellPhone
nas://SYNOLOGY.HOME/Backups/Acronis/MyCellPhone

Also substituting my IP address for "SYNOLOGY.HOME", nothing... nada. Pressing enter just does nothing at all.

Can this bug be confirmed please?

Alex, you set the destination for mobile backups via the Settings page in the ATIH 2017 GUI - click on the Gear Cog icon in the left column of the GUI and look at the bottom section of the Settings page.

Thanks.. but this won't work if I point to the network paths as stated in the original post (exactly the same behaviour).
Note I don't have the issue with windows backups. It's just local, homegroup and OneDrive only :(

Cheers..

Alex, again, this is one that you will need to raise directly with Acronis via a support ticket.  I can see the issue in that I can type in the path to my own Synology NAS in the address field for the Mobile backup location settings, but apart from checking the credentials are OK, clicking on the OK button does not let me save the network path.

The way around this is to select a local folder then include that folder in your normal backup (Files & Folders or Disks & Partititions) to your NAS drive.

Thanks I've already logged a support ticket with Synology pointing to this thread.
Is it possible you could confirm the behavour?

a) You can't see your NAS/can't select it with a mouse. Effectively unable to browse the server.
b) If you type in a network path manually (e.g. UNC or Linux path) and hit enter it won't take you to the path, the screen will momentary refresh and just nothing happens.

I haven't tried a mapped drive but I don't want to use that method regardless.

Alex, since installing the ATIH 2017 Update 1 build 5554 I have had no problems in accessing my Synology DS215J NAS by either clicking on NAS or browsing through the Network - I have backup tasks which use both the NAS name and its IP address and all work fine.

I don't have any mapped drives to my NAS purely for security reasons - the NAS has no matching credentials to any Windows Users, and Acronis uses a specific NAS User / Password for that one purpose of backups.  I do not want to give any means for malware / ransomware etc to be able to access the NAS and attack the data stored there.

To be more speicif can you confirm you have no problems selecting destination for the mobile backup?
It's ONLY when I'm selecting a backup destination for my mobile device via the method I explained in the opening post, and the method you explained in your response.

I can browse if I'm for instance backing up my entire computer, but not through mobile device backup.

Thanks..

Alex, as I stated above, I can only select my local locations for the Mobile backup destination - I can try typing in the network address of my NAS and it will tell me it is checking credentials without giving any erros, but doesn't accept the network adddress when I click on the OK button.

I could select a local Dropbox or OneDrive folder from the list shown, but it won't allow me to expand my Homegroup to find any network targets.

Great thanks for confirming. Hopefully Acronis support will see this.

Just so support knows... for the record uninstalling TrueImage, then running the Acronis Cleanup Tool, then restarting to complete the action, then reinstalling the latest Trueimage, then rebooting again (if I don't do this the Android mobile app won't connect in any scenario, interesting there is no prompt to do this! - bug?) does not change the behaviour.

Thanks.

Again, thanks for the feedback after the clean install.
