Different Logic Sector Sizes
"Acronis True Image Does Not Clone Drives with Different Logic Sector Sizes"
my pc hdd is 512 byte/sector so i can`t direct clone it new AF hdd.
i`m going to move operation system win7 to new larger HDD ( Advanced Format ,Bytes 4096 /sector) from
image (xxx.tib) my external Buffalo HDD ( 512 byte/sector ). Can it be done this way?
How about restoring image from usb memory stick, what format it should be? fat32, ntfs....
New hdd need partion first with some software, but i`m not sure how to make it bootable.
Shall i select image MBR or not ( i`m not sure if partion software make MBR).
thank you

If you're putting an image (a previously made backup with .tib extension), the USB drive needs to be formatted to support the file size of the .tib. If your .tib is more than 4Gb, then you must use NTFS. If the .tib is smaller than 4Gb or broken down into 4GB or smaller chunks, then you can store the .tib on a FAT32 or exFat drive as well.
If you are restoring files/folder from a .tib backup onto a USB flash drive, it really doesn't matter what the format of the USB drive is, unless there single files larger than 4Gb within the backup - in which case, you would also have to use NTFS. Please be aware that you cannot restore an Acronis full disk or parition backup to a USB flash drive and expect it to be bootable - Windows only allows booting when installed to internal "fixed' disks. Windows enterprise allows this via Windows-to-go and there are other unofficial tools though, but they are not in compliance with the Microsoft EULA.
My rule of thumb...
If you have backed up an entire "bootable" OS drive... then restore the entire disk to the new drive. Essentially, you want it to work like the original disk, no? The original disk has these paritions in the backup, so restore the disk exactly as it was backed up.

thank you all for reply
I jus t want to move my windows 7operation system from old HDD ti new HDD.
I don´t want to make bootable Windows 7 usb memory, usb memory is only for image storage purpose when i use
Acronis bootable cd to restore it.
If i make first partions ( C, D,E, F, G) to new HDD with Easeus partion master and then install C image( tib ) from External HDD or USB memory
does it work and boot normally. ( do i need use C- image MBR back up, to make it bootable)
"..restore the entire disk to the new drive.." then i need 300GB usb memory or emptying my backup external HDD.

Dorf, please do the following to check that you will be able to migrate your Windows 7 OS to your new HDD drive.
- Create the Acronis bootable Rescue Media on CD or DVD - you can do this from within the Windows ATIH application using the Rescue Media Builder program found in the Tools section. You should ensure that you have the latest build 5554 for ATIH 2017 installed.
- Test that you can boot your computer from the Rescue Media CD/DVD - you should boot the CD in the same mode as used by Windows 7, i.e. in either BIOS / Legacy mode or in UEFI mode. See webpage: Check if your PC uses UEFI or BIOS for how to check which mode your Windows 7 OS uses.
- When booted from the Rescue Media CD, check that you can see your internal HDD drive, and if you have an external backup HDD drive connected, that it can see that drive too.
If all looks good for the above 3 steps, then you will need to do the following steps to perform the migration to the new HDD.
- Create a full disk & partitions backup of the current Windows 7 HDD drive, including all hidden partitions, to your external backup HDD drive and check that this is completed successfully.
- Shutdown the computer, remove the original HDD drive and replace it with your new HDD drive.
- Boot your computer from the Rescue Media CD with your external backup drive connected, and launch the Acronis True Image application.
- Recover your full disk & partitions backup from the backup drive to the new HDD drive. See attached PDF document for help in doing this step.
- If the restore completes successfully, then shutdown the compuer, remove the Rescue Media CD and disconnect the backup drive, then restart the computer to confirm that your Windows 7 OS will boot successfully.
