Is Comments going to be fixed?
Hi All,
Is the Description / Comments going to be fixed or is this the End of Repairs for Acronis True Image 2017?
Is Acronis going to concentrate more on Acronis True Image 2017 New Generation and not repair Acronis True Image 2017 and in particular the Comments section?
Known Issues for Acronis True Image 2017 New Generation:
Known issues
- Backup comments are not visible in the data recovery dialog.
- Comments are not available for nonstop backups.
- The Search dialog does not support recovery of several files from different versions of a backup.

The only way to get a definitive answer would be to either raise a Support Case or probably faster, to fire off a PM to Gaidar as General Manager Acronis True Image.
If you do get a response please keep us all informed here in the forums.
Hi Steve Smith,
I can't seem to find a message / post from Gaidar, in order to send a PM to Gaidar to ask.
Thanks in advance!

Hello thecreator,
It is definitively not the End of Repairs yet, and if you notice any issues with the program, you are encouraged to report them through "Send feedback" feature and, if you need any assistance and want to be contacted, please open a support ticket from http://www.acronis.com/support/contact-us.html.
Here are statuses for the three change requests that you have asked about.
> Backup comments are not visible in the data recovery dialog.
Data recovery dialog allows you to select a recovery point and what files&folders you would like to restore. Comments in Windows version of the software are saved for the entire set of backups. As the graphical user interface does not give a possibility to add a custom comment for each backup version (recovery point), comments are not displayed in the Data recovery dialog. Instead, you can access them on the main screen in the upper left part of the screen. When and if it becomes possible to give specific labels/comments to individual backups in Windows version of the program, then it would make sense to display comments in the recovery dialog.
> Comments are not available for nonstop backups.
Due to a different backup format, Nonstop backups do not have comments right now. It is expected behavior, not a "bug", that they are missing for Nonstop backups. We are considering the possibility of adding this feature in one of the next versions of the program.
> The Search dialog does not support recovery of several files from different versions of a backup.
It is not possible to recover from different versions of a backup within a single recovery task. This restriction applies not only to recovery tasks initiated from the Search dialog, but to regular recovery tasks as well. We know about the request to add such functionality, but it is not in the list of the most urgent changes for upcoming versions of the software.

Hello Slava,
The purpose of my post, was not strictly on the Comments issue, but on Acronis True Image 2017 with the release of Acronis True Image 2017 New Generation.
I was wondering if development was stopping on Acronis True Image 2017 with the release of Acronis True Image 2017 New Generation.
I am still using Acronis True Image 2017 Build 5534, even though it cuts off Comments. In Build 5554, comments are readable, as I posted before.
Those 3 points were copied from Known Issues from Acronis True Image 2017 New Generation.
I use only the Full Backup Scheme as it is much faster if needed to restore the operating system, as oppose to Nonstop or Incredmental Backups.
Adding 2 other Attachments with 5554 installed, so you can see that only one Comment line is shown with 5554 installed. Same Computer and Monitor, but in Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1.

Hello thecreator,
There will be at least one update for Acronis True Image 2017 (without "New Generation") users, expected approximately in a month from now. It will include not only all the fixes that were included in the "New Generation" build (6116), but also other issues that were not included in the "New Generation" or were found after it was released. There might be another yet update in several months, there is no decision on it yet.
The issue with 1-line viewport for comments is fixed in the "New Generation" release for all types of backups with one exception. Local encrypted backups still have just 1 line visible at a time.
The upcoming update (the one that we expect in a month), will have the issue rectified for all kinds of backups, including local encrypted.

Hello Slava,
Thank you for the update.
Out of Curiousity, are the Updates being Beta Tested before being released?
When I clicked on Beta Forums, it isn't opening up.

I don't use Local Encryption. I do use Max Compression.
Also is the Beta Programs, section, supposed to be open all year, or just during Beta-Testing?

I didn't see a beta offering for NG - MVP's were able to get a copy beforehand, but really wasn't a beta test period - it happened pretty quick and the release was a different version than we received. I've only seen the beta testing open for end of year major releases (2016, 2017 ... I'm guessing 2018 again around Aug-Sep of this year).

Hello thecreator,
Beta forum is open only during Beta testing in the summer, before a new version is released, which happens usually in August-September.
There was no open Beta testing before the New Generation release (January 18th 2017), however.
Regular updates are throughly tested internally by Acronis.
Unless something changes, the next time you can expect the Beta forum to open is somewhere in July 2017. As I said, there might be changes and the actual date may shift.

Slava
