Just reinstalled Windows 10 after a major OS problem
Hello, recently I have had to reinstall the Windows operating environment due to a technical issue with drive mapping. As such I am currently having to rebuild my machine's operating environment, with all the same programs! I have the install media (disc) for Acronis 2010 and I just assumed that it was this version that was on this machine previously but it was actually the 2014 True Image Home. Unfortunately, I realised after installing and re-registering the True Image Home 2010 product. What should I do next?
Thanks in advance

Hello Steve, and thanks for the warm welcome!
My point mostly was that I have mistakenly installed the ATIH 2010 media on my Windows 10 machine, when it may be installed on and registered to another machine entirely. Does this actually matter, obviously I can just uninstall ATIH 2010 and download / install the ATIH 2014, but will this affect my standing as it is unintentional piracy?
Secondary to this is that I have been using the ATIH 2014 and not the ATIH 2010, as my scheduled backup program in the Windows 10 environment. Now that the Widows mapping of network drives issue has been solved I was preparing to use a small home NAS for my backup *.tib storing place. Depending on the answer to the question above are either of ATIH 2010 and 2014 versions even capable of this?
I was using a separate drive (not C:) to store my *.tib backups on and was intending backup more often and send one file to the NAS alternately. The there would be, for example, 12 external monthly file backups every year, similar to an archive.

Steve, I am a little surprised that you were able to install ATIH 2010 on your Windows 10 computer as this is normally refused by Windows Compatibility checker, but this shouldn't present a problem unless you are wanting to install it on another system at some point.
As I advised previously, both 2010 and 2014 versions are not officially supported for use in Windows 10. I have a Synology NAS and have been using this to store backups from computers with 2014 through 2017 versions - though 2014 is installed on a Windows XP machine, my others computers have either Windows 7 or 10. I also have several other backup storage locations for protection and redundancy.

Steve, you were absolutely correct after trying to use the ATIH 2010 to create a backup, I could not validate the file after the process finished. So I immediately uninstalled that version and installed the ATIH 2014 which so far has been able to produce and validate a backup. Next test will come when the sequence of backups increase and the stability check will be if these too can be validated.
Thanks for your assistance

Steve, thanks for the update, hope all goes well with your further tests.

To have complete confidence in your backups it would be a good idea to get your hands on another disk drive and attempt to perform a recovery to that drive using boot media created based on the 2014 product. Without that assurance even though you can backup the disk if recovery is not possible then the backups are well, worthless!
