Any help in trying to restore a Backup and Recovery 10 TIB file??

Thread needs solution

Hello, I hope that I can find some help here, as Support has been downright useless.

A client has contacted me that a critical server has failed. I have been provided their external usb harddrive that was being used as their Acronis backup media. Using the trial version of the cloud based Backup 12 to access the archive. I am able to open and view files from one of the 2 TIB Files. There are 2 files on the drive I was supplied. One is named:
VancouverServerBackup_2016_05_02_13_00_21_696D.TIB with a Date Modified of 5/2/2016 and a file size of 234Mb

The second file is named:
VancouverServerBackup_2016_05_02_13_00_21_696D2.TIB with a Date Modified of 1/27/2017 and a file sie of 1.1GB.

I am able to mount and explore the 5/2 TIB file. However there is no content on it that is more recent than 5/2/2016. I am unable to mount or validate the 1/27 TIB File.

I believe that the second file with a name ending in 'D2' is the differential portion of the backup. However, it doesnt seem that by opening the orginal backup file in the web console I am able to access the differential data.

How can I get to the most recent data?

Cheers!

I should have mentioned in the body of the post; The tib file was created by Backup and Recovery 10.

I also at one point had True Image 2017 installed locally and tried to access the backup file. This had the same result, as per a KB, I found that True Image 2017 doesnt support recovery of Backup and Recover 10 archives.

Adam,

Have you tried using 10th version of Acronis Backup to access the archive? Was it suggested by our support team? I'd first of all tried accessing the archive while booting from bootable media with Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 on it (to avoid installation of this version onto Windows machine) - this would have the best chances to perform the recovery.

P.S. ...D.TIB + ...D2.TIB are 2 parts of 1 archive - usually the first one is full and 2nd can be incremental/differential or part of archive splitting. Make sure that all the parts of the archive (D.TIB, D2.TIB, D3.TIB, etc. if any other exist) are in the same folder when accessing it.

Thank you.

Vasily,

Thank you very much for the reply, it is much appreciated. No support rep was able to provide any comment, as they were stuck with me providing the serial number of Backup and Recovery 10. Which is not possible with the machine down.

I do not know where to obtain version 10 of the software, the orginal installation was done by a no longer employed consultant.

Thanks for the info on the D2 naming. That was my assumption. Any thoughts on why I can view all of the original backup data but none of the incremental data?

Hi Adam,

Please check your private messages on forum - I've sent you some links and instructions. What concerns the missing recovery points - it's hard to guess without getting additional details on the symptoms, e.g. which TIB files are actually present, how exactly you try to access them, etc. (some screen shots would be really helpful).

Thank you.
