Backup & Restore tab grayed out
I had to uninstall Acronis because it froze Windows 8.1 on my laptop. I reinstalled and opted for downloading the updated file. It installed and accepted by serial nr., but even after a reboot, the "Backup & Restore" tab and ALL the tabs except for "Getting Started" are grayed out and cannot be accessed. I got scared and uninstall the whole thing again. Any idea what causes this?

I did all of this, then reinstalled and ran the Uninstall from the "install program" (using all the time the latest download), but I still can only access the "Getting started" tab.

As you are having trouble with the standard methods, rerun the cleanup tool.
Before running the install again,
disalbe your AV and then run the TI install program with the "run as administrator" credentials.

Sorry for the delay in answering your kind advice. I did as you suggested (and also checked the Registry lines indicated in the Acronic help), but I still have all the tabs grayed out except the "Getting started" tab. The clean up and installation went smoothly, and I rebooted as advised. I also turned off my Norton AV autoprotect during the installation. Any more ideas?

Question, do you have Windows Integration enabled? You might try to disable Windows Integration and see if that helps. You can disable Integration features in the settings menu by clicking the gear icon. See link:

As you can see EVERYTHING is grayed out except "getting started," so I cannot get at the settings.

Did you find a solution? I have the same problem with Acronis True Image 2014... I only have the get started tab and everything else is grayed out

This is normally caused because the software has not been activated.

Ok, you are right. I had installed acronis on my computer but for some reason i needed to activate it again. Then I needed to select to move the licence to the same computer and then it worked. I do not know the reason why I needed to activate the software again???
So thanks Steve the activation did work for me.
