corrupted file system

Thread needs solution

I am attempting to clone a 1 TB hard disk to a 500 GB disk. I was using the manual mode, as suggested, but the process stopped with an error message stating that the source disk file system is corrupt. The disk has a Windows 10 Pro x64 OS and a number of applications on it, it boots fine and all the programs work as they supposed to.  I ran chkdsk on it and it found no problem, but True Image 17 still refuses to clone it and displays the coruupt file system error and stops. What can I try to correct this problem. I will appreciate any help.

Thomas, welcome to these user forums.

Please see sticky post: 128231: [IMPORTANT] CLONING - How NOT to do this!!! for some warnings and guidance on how to approach a cloning action.

Can you make a full backup (disks & partitions) of your source drive, and does this give any errors / warnings about corrupt file system errors?

CHKDSK /R should be run on all partitions for the source drive, including the hidden System partition for which you would need to allocate a drive letter to do this.  Alternatively, run a disk utility from the drive manufacturers support web site which can examine the whole disk, not just the Windows partition.

Steve, thanks for your reply. No, I did not try the full back up and I only ran chkdsk on the C; drive partition. I will try your suggestion and will let you know how I made out.

Thanks again,

Regards
