Activate new computer

Thread needs solution

My old computer died. Have new one. How do it activate it so I can back it up and access existing backup for missing data?

Jamie, welcome to these user forums.

Several assumptions here:

  1. That you have installed your ATIH 2015? software on the new computer?
  2. That you have a valid license for your ATIH 2015? and this is for only one computer?
  3. That you have your existing backup from the dead computer on an external disk drive or in the Acronis Cloud that you can connect to get access to once you have ATIH 2015 installed and activated?

If the above assumptions are correct, then when you attempt to activate the Acronis software on the new computer you should receive a warning that you have exceeded the number of activations.  See KB 48380: Acronis True Image 2015: "You've exceeded the maximum number of activations for this serial number" for the steps needed to resolve this.

If you still have problems, then you will need to open a Support Case with Acronis Support who are the only folk who can resolve licensing or activation issues.

Jamie, glad to hear it worked for you.

I have True image home 2015 for 3 computers. I used it for 2 computers and one of the computers crashed. I had not created a rescue disk and I installed windows XP operating system again. Then I installed True image 2015 from my flash drive. I have 2 questions;

1. Since I am still using True image on two computers, can I install it on third computer?

2. Does 2015 version work with VISTA operating system?

Gulab - you'll always be able to install on UP TO 3 computers with your license.  If for some reason, you get a notice for "too many activiations" it should simply ask you to login, take you to a list of installed computers, and ask you which one to remove it from so you can continue with the next install.

It should work with VISTA, but I can't guarantee it.  Interesting it does not mention VISTA though, but does XP and Win7.  If it can run on XP and Win7, it should run on VISTA too.  Just make sure to install by right clicking the installer and selecting to "run as administrator" even if aleady logged in with an admin account.  To be on the safe side, Take a full disk "offline" image with your rescue media first - that way, you have something to revert to "pre-Acronis 2015 Vista install" in case something doesn't jive well.
