2014 True Image HD Crucial Bundle - won't let me clone to single partition

Thread needs solution

I have a laptop with a 150GB SSD that was running out of space, so I picked up a Crucial 500GB SSD with the bundled True Image HD software.   When I walk through the clone wizard and choose the Manual Move Method > Change Disk Layout, the Edit Partitions screen will not let me enlarge the C: (OS) partition above it's current 111GB size, even when I choose to exclude the 3 smaller partitions that are not needed.  The "up" arrow for the size of C: is always grayed out.  It wants to put all the unused 360GB of space into yet another partition.

How do I get the contents of my current C drive onto the new SSD in a lone partition that includes the entire available volume of the drive?

If I have to remap applications' registries to store files on a D or E drive, I might as well just keep using the external drive I already have.

Josh, welcome to these user forums.

Cloning works on a whole disk basis and should normally only be used to move the whole source disk to a target disk which is of equal or larger size.

Given what you are wanting to do, I would recommend not using cloning at all, but use Backup and Restore instead.

Please see post: 128231: [IMPORTANT] CLONING - How NOT to do this!!! which will give you further advice and point you to other reference documents on this subject.

Josh:

Sometimes I have seen TrueImage do this when there are file system errors on the source disk. The software's built-in partitioning feature will not let you enlarge, shrink, or move a partition that contains a file system error. You should run chkdsk /f on the source SSD before proceeding further to see if it can correct any errors.
