Difference between 2015 and 2017

Thread needs solution

I would like to know the advantage of upgrading to 2017 version from 2015.

Secondly I have a computer with windows 2000. Can 2015 version or 2017 version be used for backup on that computer. What version I have to buy to do that. Rest of computers are using XP, vista and windows7.

They work fine with 2015 version.

2017 and 2015 are pretty similar in looks and appearance.  You're mostly going to be paying for the updates and bug fixes at this point in time, but the stability and compatibility with newer versions of Windows 10 (if/when you upgrade) is also nice (although with your old OS's is moot).  Upgrade pricing isn't bad - I saw a 3 pack for the price of 1 the other day - yup $29.99 to upgrade to 3 licenses, or $29.99 for a new license plust 1 extra license on the main page right now- not bad for $10 a system.  You also get 2 years of support with new versions, where 2015 has no support anymore

I'm surprised 2015 works with your 2000 system.  I'm also surprised you'd still be running an unpatched system in this day and age - perhaps you have something super legacy that you just have to have though.  None of these versions is "supported" by Acronis for 2000.  If it works, great, but seems risky if your data is important to you.  Especially for $10 a system when your data may be unreplaceable.

The release notes state the compatible and supported OSes and changes.

Acronis True Image 2017 for PC (Build # 8029) 2017-02-2 Release Notes

Acronis True Image 2015 (Build # 6613) 2015-07-20 Release notes

I did not say that True Image 2015 works with windows 2000. I asked the question to find out if it will work with windows 2000.

See KB 48302: Acronis True Image 2015: Supported Operating Systems which shows that the earliest supported version of Windows is XP.  This is true as far back as ATIH 2010 which only support from Windows XP upto Windows 7.

Whether it would work with Windows 2000 is a different question and you would have to try to install it first before you would find out if it will work or not?

What would work with Windows 2000 or any other version of Windows is using the Acronis bootable Rescue Media which only relies on the ability to be able to boot and having a support disk file system, i.e. FAT, NTFS..
