Files/Folders backup - full instead of incremental

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have created files and folders backup of two folders on my d:\ partition. First full backup and first incremental backup were successful but today I noticed that Acronis took a full backup again albeit incremental backup should have been taken. Why is this happening? Expected backup type order should be one full backup and then six incremental backups in one week cycle.

Bojan, difficult to say exactly what has happened here but from looking at the file names you posted the screen shot of, then Acronis has started the full backup chain again as indicated by having _full_b1_s1_v1-2 - it only adds the -2 in cases where it makes a backup but finds an existing file present with the same name?

Please use the MVP Log Viewer to check the log files for any messages that may help explain what has happened?

Here is a log file from today:

Thanks for the log but it only shows what we already know, that a new full backup was performed and this was given the v1-2.tib file suffix.

Yes, there is not any clue why Acronis took full backup again instead of incremental. Black box.

Today again Acronis took full backup instead of incremental. This is ridiculous. The most straightforward task such as taking backups according to scheduled backup schema is not working. I am very dissapointed. Since there are no errors troubleshooting this is hard job.

Bojan, can you create an Acronis System Report and attach to this topic, that would give us some more information to try to work with?  Otherwise, I can only suggest opening a Support Case for this issue directly with Acronis Support and see if they can figure out why you are only seeing full backups not incrementals per your backup scheme?

Last friday I created backup schedule but today again full backup was taken instead of incremental. Which particular log do you need or it is better to attach whole SystemReport.zip?

A couple suggestions here...

1. Save a copy of the script file for this backup.

2. Using the Acronis Scheduler Manager and save a copy of the task data.

3. Recreate a new backup task from scratch. See if there are any differences in the stored data and see if it may work better.

One other thing. Looking at your cleanup rule, you say to run 6 incrementals and to delete backup chains over seven days, which is basically the term of one chain. Change the cleanup to select to keep no more than 1 or 2 chains.

Bojan, the full Acronis System Report zip file would probably be the most useful for trying to understand this problem if you would care to post it.
