ADD11 OS Selector problem

Thread needs solution

I have a multiboot system with OS Selector. The storage partition where the bootwiz is stored is for some strange reason showing up as "not formatted" using the bootable rescue disk. Now, when I boot I get a message "Error 1" "Acronis OS selector cannot find the necessary configuration files. Please reinstall Acronis OS Selector". With ADD10 the bootable rescue disk gave an option to reinstall the OS selector. I do not see that option with ADD11. Is there a way to reinstall or disable the OS selector so I get boot up and repair the OS selector through the start menu? Very frustrated here.

The lack of OSS support from the DD CD is a known problem (one I hope Acronis fixes quickly).

You would need to manually fix a Windows OS to boot and then reactivate/reinstall OSS to fix it. Use DD to set the correct partition Active. Then use the Windows CD/DVD to repair the MBR. Instructions for repairing the MBR vary for the version of Windows and require the installation media (instructions can be provided, if needed). You could also use any standard MBR repair tool.

Windows 7 ultimate. I have 3 win7 os's installed. The windows 7 system files (or something like that) is set to active. What is the fix mbr process? Thanks for the info.. They need more CD support for sure! What a pain

Boot to the Windows 7 DVD and enter the Repair Mode. Cancel any automatic repair attempts. Start the Command Prompt and run the following command: bootrec /fixmbr

Thanks so much. Do I have to select a partition to repair? If so, the one with an OS or the one with the system files windows 7 created on its own?

As far as I know, it shouldn't matter which partition (Windows) is selected. The MBR is going to be the same for all of them.
