Strange things happening with True image 2015

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis True Image 2015 My computer has windows 10 version 1607 with all available updates installed
My acronis version is 6613 and was set for automatic updates. These problems may have started when the latest version of Acronis was installed.

All my saved backups have disappeard.
It won't allow me to save any new backups that I create and just goes back to a Entire PC backup which I have to configure from new each time.
When started by pressing 'backup now' it satrts doing multiple backups at the same time

I would be grateful for any help.

Peter

Peter, welcome to these user forums.

It sounds likely that something went wrong with the latest automatic update of your Acronis software given the symptoms you are describing.

I would recommend trying to do a Repair install initially and see if this will resolved the problem.

To do this, download the latest ATIh 2015 build 6613 installer program from your Acronis Account, then simply run the installer again, which should offer the option to Repair the current installation.

If this doesn't work, then you may need to do a clean install of the software which we can help you with should it come to that point.

Hi Steve,

I've done the repair but it still sems the same. Can't save a backup. When I try to run the default backup it says queued.

Peter, sorry to hear the repair hasn't worked.

For the queued issue, please download the Acronis Scheduler Manager tool (link below) and use this to clear all scheduled backup tasks as follows:

Run the schedmgr.exe program as Administrator, this will open a Command prompt type window.

Type get list which will show a list of all scheduled tasks.

Type task zap which will remove all scheduled tasks.

Note: If you want to remove only selected tasks, then you should select the task first, i.e. task 1-2 then do task delete which would only delete that specific task.

If you use task zap, then you would need to edit your backup tasks and reset the schedules as needed.

Try the above first, and if you still have problems, then come back again and will guide you for doing a clean install.

Hi Steve,

Done the Schedule manager. It came up with a long list (difficult to read) Did the task zap.

Then tried the default backup which started running. I've left it running (takes about 1hr:30 to do).

Then I'll try saving a new backup. and report back.

If you want me to do anything different, I'll do what you ask.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Steve,

It did the full backup which it would do even when the strange events were happening. However I couldn't save a backup that wwould still be there when the program was restarted.

So it looks like a fresh install.

Peter, when you say that you cannot save a backup how are you trying to do this?

When you create a new backup task, the final step to save the new task is to click on one of the Backup Now or in X hours or Later options.  Until you do this then nothing is saved.

Hi Steve,

Yes I tried that method and tried Save in the options.

After your last post I tried it again just on a folder with about 600MBytes in it and I got an error message Can't access folder 'e' which doesn't exist on my machine. I selected ignoe and it started to go through the backup and after 8GB! had been backed up (of 600MB!) I stopped it.

On opening that program again non of the saved backups were there.

I've Just tried a smaller folder. This time it did the backup without errors but again after the program was closed and then opened again the folder backup was not there, just the default 'entire PC' backup

Peter, are you running Acronis from an Administrator user account?  Has this changed since it was all running fine?

Perhaps it is time now to do a clean install.

If you want to save your task configuration, then save the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder to a safe location - the .TIS files in this folder hold that configuration data in XML format.

Uninstall ATIH 2015 normally via the Control Panel.

Download the Acronis Cleanup Tool (link in my signature) and run this as Administrator then restart to complete the cleanup action.

Reinstall the latest ATIH 2015 build 6613 installer then restore your Scripts folder contents (if saved).

Hi Steve,

I'm not bothered about saving anything. I'd sooner start from scratch to ensure there's nothing carried over. Ill save my install code though as I'l probably need it to install from scratch. I've been using Acronice since version 9 but had to upgrade as 9 wouldn't install on Windows 8.1

I first insalled Aconis 2015 when my machine has windows 8.1 on it.Then at the last minute of the free Windows 10 upgraded to Windows 10.

I'm not sure when my Acronis update was installed it may have been before or after moving to windows 10.

I'll do as you suggest with the clean up tool and try again.

Sorry to be a pain, I'm grateful for your help.

Peter

Hi Steve,

Went through all the instructions in your last post and those for registry checks.

Re-installed and on running the program all my previous saved backups were back in place.

Ran a backup and all was fine. Took much shorter time than before.

So, you did a good job for me and I'm very grateful for your patience and your help.

Thank you,

Peter

Peter, thanks for the feedback, glad to hear that the clean install worked for you.
