Backup Created in Acronis 2017 Bootable Rescue Media *Does Not* appear in Windows Version of ATI 2017

Thread needs solution

Hi there, I hope that this is perhaps just a simple inquiry that can be easily resolved.  This is also more of an observation - not mission critical - as I can access the backup created and for any recovery purposes.  Just seeking insights...

My issue / observation is this:  During the last full backup, created in Acronis 2017 Bootable Rescue Media (offline), I noticed that after it completed, it did not appear nor show as the last backup performed when I opened the windows version of Acronis True Image 2017.  Is there a way to have the windows interface of Acronis update (either manually or automatically) to reflect this backup?  Perhaps the metadata with the backup information did not "import" into the windows application interface....?  I've seen that the home screen / backup user interface typically shows just the status of the last backup performed.  And, in this case, it doesn't.

Please note, if I go into my backup media (an external HDD in a hot swappable drive bay), I can "see" the backup media created under the ATI 2017 Bootable (offline) rescue media.  It appears intact; I can open it and view the discs, directories/folders, and files.

However, it is just not reflected or updated in the ATI 2017 windows interface.  I can only "see" the results of the previous (prior to the last backup created by bootable rescue media) successful backup (which was performed in the windows version of Acronis True Image 2017).

My configuration:  MS Windows 7 x64, AMD 3.0 GHz Quad Core Processor, 32 GB DDR3 RAM.  External Backup Drive: Hitachi 2.0 TB (Backup Size 600 GB)

Currently using Acronis True Image 2017 Build 8029

(I see that there is a newer update just released on April 25, 2017 - Update 4, Build 8053 and will re-post if this issue has been addressed after the update is installed and I have done another backup with bootable rescue media to test).

Thanks! Appreciate any/all your shared insights & opinions.

The Windows database is separate from offline backups, if you want to add your offline backup, there is a carrot at the right of the "add backup" section which reveals "add existing backup"

personally I would not add offline backups to the console. If you're going to restore a partition Orr disk, you should be using rescue media and not starting from Windows to begin with. This is safer and will avoid a potential scenario with a corrupted bootloader that can happen if you start from Windows and Actonis fails to load correctly becayluse of a lack of drivers, bios incompatibility or something else. Always use your rescue media for partition ir full disk restores... and ANY clone operation.

Hi Bobbo, great advice, thanks!  (I'm thinking that just to be safe I'll perform all my remaining backups with offline backup media, and not add them to the console.)  That's a solid tip!

Further to what I just posted, doing a bit of an experiment, I went ahead and "added an existing backup" just to see how it would display in the console. (I can delete just the backup from displaying later.)

As it turns out (in ATI 2017) the backup that I added (created with offline Acronis Recovery/Backup media) appears in the "This Computer" panel, under the heading "Others" - which is separate and apart from the backup I had created under the windows console which appears directly beneath "This Computer".    That's good (it's distinctly separated - visually and functionally).

The "Last Backup" status display updates to reflect the time and date of the most recent backup which was created offline.

Also good to see that I had tagged a comment to the offline media backup - "... Backup from Acronis Recovery CD".

All the same, I'll respect your insights and will (just) delete it from displaying in the console.

Thanks!

Glad to hear it.  I just hate how the name shows up when you add it into the panel from an offline backup.  I generally figure that if I'm willing to take the backup "offline" I'm also willing to restore the backup "offline"

You should also be able to just double click an existing .tib file (from an offline backup) and Acronis should be able to navigate the content so you can copy/paste files/folders out of it that route too.  Either way, no need to import the offlien backup into the console as there are a couple of options to still be able to use it, even if you just need to grab some files out of it.
