Mail notifications not working
Hi everyone,
Since a while ago we have disabled TLS 1.0 and 1.1 in our microsoft exchange server.
In doing seem to have broken the mail notifications in Acronis true image.
During contact with the acronis support we got told the software does support TLS 1.2. We've re-enabled 1.1 and 1.0 to test if it was indeed the cause.. And behold, we received notifications again.
Now the big question is, does Acronis True Image really support TLS 1.2? or might it be that we are missing something?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the information.
I have changed the port to 587 as described in KB document 57875: Acronis True Image: E-mail Notifications to Gmail Fail with "Authentication failed"
However now we just receive the message "Failed to send test message, Check the specified e-mail settings" when trying to send a test message.

Marcus, what ISP are you using to for you notification settings? Have you checked what server settings they say you should use?

We use our own Microsoft Exchange environment hosted by ourself.
Server settings: <servername>.ultraware.nl Port: 587 Encryption: TLS
or
Server settings: <servername>.ultraware.nl Port: 2525 Encryption: TLS
both of the above settings are able to send mail in combination with correct credentials for SMTP authentication.
Once we turn off TLS 1.0 and 1.1 in our Microsoft Exchange server the same settings in combination with a correct SMTP credentials no longer work.

Marcus, I have no direct experience of Microsoft Exchange but I found the following KB document which may offer some clues to help: KB 18160: Acronis Backup: Setting Up E-Mail Notifications - this document is for a different Acronis product.
The other suggestion would be to raise a Support Case direct with Acronis and let them try to help you with this, plus they should be able to confirm what version of TLS is required.
