Compression seems extreme, is all well?
When backing up my 500 GB SSD C: Drive with, according to Arconis 2016, 42.8 GB used, I'm getting a BU file that is 7.5 GB for a compression of 17.5% which is vastly greater than the examples given in the Help Section.
Does this seem correct or is something wrong?
Any advice appreciated.

Many thx, Steve. A bit ago I accidentally trashed my system and am now moving very slowly to rebuild and use Arconis step by step to maintain a working BU. Your information gives me a place to start investigating.
UPDATE
Yes, I had all exclusions excluded, which would not be what I want, especially the System Volume Information files. That is to say in the Exclusions tab the box is checked, which I assume means to exclude all the file types listed below.
However, Looking at Backup Source it shows my shown "48.7 GB used" should result in an Estimated BU Size of 29.1 GB. 29 GB seems in line with the examples of compression, my 7 GB seems wildly wrong, unless the 29 GB reflects excluding all the exclusions, and the box there was checked as default.
The main panel or dash board shows "Disks and partitions - 7.0 GB - Disks: 'my C disk' "
When I get back in a bit, I'm going to:
1) Delete the current initial saved BU
2) Do a new BU with the Exclusions box unchecked and see what I get.

William, what Windows OS do you have as that can make a difference as to what the backup size can be?

Once again new stuff for me to know.
Running Win7 Pro x64

William, thanks for the OS information - 7.5GB does sound small for a backup of Windows 7 64-bit unless you are dealing with an almost vanilla installation with minimal additional programs installed etc.
Each new version of Windows OS seems to almost double the space required and comes on larger installation media. I just downloaded the latest Windows 10 install media (for both 32-bit & 64-bit) and required 8GB just to put the installer on a USB stick to install from! That compared to installing earlier versions from a CD or Windows 3.1 from diskettes just shows how much Windows has bloated out over the years! Windows 7 came on a DVD if I remember correctly, as have 8.1 and 10 since.

As always, very helpful info. Starting to become somewhat informed in a tiny, but personally relivant, area. :)
This was my very first back up with only Win7, Chrome and some drivers loaded. My plan, after having suffered through a lot of computer hate this year, is to start with the most basic vanilla install as my first full back up, then do incrementals as I build things up. The small size got my attention, but also where Arconis was telling me that there was 48.7 GB used on the disk I was backing up. But perhaps the 7 GB might be correct for a tiny initial install.
In Exceptions after I delete things I don't want to BU, should I be checking off the box to save the other things?

William, the Exceptions page are purely those things that you do NOT want to backup, so leave such as .TIB, .TMP etc Obviously, these exclusions only apply when you have the option ticked to apply them at the top of the page.

After carefully reading the provided Help, I was thinking how with most programs there is some degree of assumption that everyone understands some things and which once we know, we forget we ever didn't know something so basic. In this case it was the very basic question of how to interpret the check mark. Does the check mark mean the following items will be excluded or included? Sometimes I'm much too literal for my own good, but after all too many problems of late (and figuring out some things that totally baffled competent techs); I'm going really slow and step by step with this install. Arconis is both my safety net and my safety blankee. :)
The one particular item in the Exclusions List I wanted to preserve was the System Volume Information folder as the Restore Points stored there have saved me numberous times.
thx for the confirmation.
Just now finished a BU with the check mark unchecked and my Arconis BU is now 9.4 GB, vs 7.5 with the exclusions check mark. Starting to actually understand a bit, many thx for your patience.
