Backup fails with "Cannot find GXT item type 'mms::disk::disk'."

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I've been a log time user of Acronis backup for vmware (from v6 to v9) and upgraded yesterday to ESXi 6.5 and Acronis Backup 12 (V.12.0.3689).

I have two ESXi hosts, ESXI agents are installed, Vsphere Server and Acronis Backup runs on a Windows Server 2012.

Created a backup plan to backup all vms on both hosts. Run it first manually. Worked. Set up a schedule to run at midnight. The first backup for host 1 started at 00:00 and failed. The second host started at 02.00 (why?) and failed.

Running backup manually fails immediately with "Cannot find GXT item type 'mms::disk::disk'."

All targets and sources are available. The detailed log shows this errors:

Noticed that 12.5 is out and updated.

Now I have a conflict between vsphere Server and Acronis. Seems they both use port 8089 now!!

Where can I change this?

Hi Martin,

Concerning the 1st issue, please clarify which exact machines are included into the plan, e.g. which machines have this plan applied to. The error may be given if you accidentally include "virtual appliance" VMs into the backup plan - they will always give you this error (when some of the elements included into the plan cannot be processed). Please try selecting the VMs excluding (unchecking the checkboxes) the unnecessary appliances from there.

Concerning the 8089 port conflict: you can change this port as follows,

1. In "c:\Program Files\Acronis\AMS\net.config" change the port vaules from 8089 to any other available one
2. In "c:\Program Files\Acronis\WebServer\wcs\web\group_manager.py" and "c:\Program Files\Acronis\WebServer\wcs\web\temp_ams_proxy.py" change 8089 port to the new one (search and replace all found entries)

3. Restart Acronis services (Acronis Management Server + Web Server at the very least).

Thank you.

Thanks Vasily, will give it a try and report back.

Martin

I can confirm both workarounds. Thanks.

Martin

Hello,

I have the same problem that you had with "Cannot find GXT item type 'mms::disk::disk'". The version of Acronis that I am currently using is v.12.0.3689.

Could you tell me how you managed to solve this problem?

Thank you very much in advance

regards.

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I removed all old backup Jobs and started again in a clean state. Then everything was working as expected. You have to be carefull that you do not include the Acronis applicance in a vm backup Job.

Thank you for fast reply!

I solved my problem!!

The virtual appliance of acronis was not connected to the ESXi. So I reconnected it and now everything is working again!

Regards!
