TrueImageMonitor.exe constant attempt to connect to localhost port 50802

Thread needs solution

Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit, TI 2017 Build 8053

I see that program "TrueImageMonitor.exe" is constantly trying to open a connection on the local PC (localhost) on port 50802.

When I just opened the TrueImage.exe main program to see what the build number was, I saw it doing the same thing.

What are these two programs trying so hard to do, and failing at it constantly?

Bert, from what I see on my computer, there is a SYN flow going on between these two Acronis programs (TrueImage.exe and TrueImageMonitor.exe) using port 58082 on localhost where it looks to be almost a communications check to verify that each is active?

You would need to open a Support Case with Acronis to get a definitive answer as this probably comes under the scope of their application design but perhaps they will confirm if this is normal behaviour or not?

I don't see any particular negative impact by this SYN flow.

I'm seeing TrueImageMonitor constantly sending SYN to localhost port 50802 even when TrueImage is not running. When TrueImage is started, it too sends SYN to localhost 50802. There are never any SYN+ACK responses from any other process that I can see.

Normally, SYN is sent in order to initiate a TCP connection, expecting a SYN+ACK response, which in turn should cause an ACK to be sent, completing the connection.

I'm not seeing any "negative impact" from this either, other than my expectation that these two processes appear to be trying to open a connection to some other process which is either not running, or not responding.

I suppose I should make a formal inquiry, if only so I can stop wondering about it and get to sleep tonight.

Should have checked the KB before I started this thread; I searched the forum, but not the KB.

https://kb.acronis.com/content/59581 is about troubleshooting mobile backup, which shows that mobile backup uses port 58082 for transport.

Even though I have mobile backup disabled, it appears that some pieces of TI keep trying anyway.

I'm satisfied that nothing untoward is going on.

Bert, thanks for the update / feedback, KB 59581 is a new one to me but then I haven't tried to use mobile backup recently after having no success on previous occasions, but useful to have it bookmarked.
