WinPE based bootable media not usable

Thread needs solution

I tried to build an x86 image using WinPE 3 (Windows 7), using the Bootable media wizard. However, when I boot it up, I get an error message:

Module: trueimg_remote_full_bartpe_vs_3622

Message: Acronis Managed Machine Service is not started.

(etc...)

I was able to create an image using the Linux option, which works nicely. But, there is a scenario where I may need 32bit.

Hi,

Most likely the problem is related to combination of used Microsoft WAIK package version (WinPE 3) and the fact that you run an old version of Acronis Backup (it's v12 build 3622 - quite an old one) + fact that it's x86 image, whereas 32-bit systems are quite rare. You should contact our support team for assistance and as a workaround you can use a newer WAIK version (3.1 for example - as described here) and/or 64-bit Windows installation (to install Acronis Media Builder).

Thank you.

Well crap. I should have guessed there was a "newer" version of WAIK for Windows 7 SP1.

I built this image after upgrading Acronis to 12.5. I wonder why the image has the wrong version of Acronis. I do understand that x86 is gradually getting rare. We have a Win2000 computer that is tied to a $70,000 machine. Upgrading the PC is not feasible at the moment.

Hi,

Even on old hardware there are good chances that standard Linux-based 64-bit bootable media will boot properly. As an alternative there is a x32 bit version of standard Linux-based bootable media available - you can build it via Media Builder component installed from 32-bit version of Acronis Backup 12.5 installer (available for downloads from your Acronis account). If this doesn't help, then 32-bit WinPE media would be the only option indeed.

Thank you.
