Where are my Backups

Thread needs solution

I have four backups on my "G" drive. When I click on the Backup Icon, I see only the latest backup. Where are the other three and how do I add them to the list of backups? I have attached two screen shots so you can see for yourself what I see. Any and all help would be greatly appreicated.

Donald, you have not included a screen shot of the actual backup files on your G: drive to help us know what those files are and which backup task they were created by?

A chot of my G Drive is attached. I have tried several times to add them, but they do not appear in the list of backups.

You appear to have one incremental scheme backup task which has been run 4 times creating an initial full backup and three increments. The backup task is what you are seeing in Acronis. It won't show each file, but if you want to do a recovery you should  be able to select from which backup.

Donald, ditto to Bruno's answer to you - all your backup files relate to the same backup task Entire PC (DESKTOP-5L0EIQH) hence the task is only shown the once in the backup task list, otherwise you would have 4 duplicate entries for the same task if you had one per file created - that would get very messy and difficult to navigate if you have a backup scheme with lots of incremental backups etc.

If you select this task and click on one of the Recover options, then at the top right of the panel you would see a drop-down box offering you a choice of the dates / times when other backup files were created to choose from for the recovery, where there will be one entry per each file available.

I am so frustrated with Acronis that I am about ready to remove it from my laptop and a computer repair center make backups for me. It would be a lot less frustrating. What you are saying probably makes lots of sense to you, but it doesn't help me one bit.

I clicked on the backup name, DESKTOP-5L0EIQH, as suggested, but there are no recovery options. I clicked the down arrow next to the backup name and got a list of actions, none of which are recovery options. What am I doing wrong.?

Look at the bottom of the main panel when your task is selected and you will see Recover button(s) shown there.

I think something was missed in my original post. I don't want to choose a backup for recovery. I want to delete backups except for the most recent. My backup disk is rapidly filling up with backups, and pretty soon it will be out of space. Please tell me how to delete all but the latest backup.

Getting Acronis to "lose" old backups is a pain in the ....

You can't simply delete an old backup. You have to set up a Backup scheme that clears out stuff you want to get rid of.

Investigate the settings in Turn on automatic cleanup.

Donald, automatic cleanup is the recommended method of managing older backup files but you can also do this manually provided you understand the rules for doing so.

Method 1 is to delete the old files via Windows Explorer then run a Validation for the backup task that created these files where you will get a pop-up error message for each deleted file that you should take the Ignore option for.

Method 2 is to use the task option to "Clone settings" which will create a duplicate backup task with the same name but prefixed by (1) - next, Delete the old task settings (do not delete all the files too!).  This action will remove the task details from the Acronis Database.

Finally, edit the (1) cloned task and direct this to a different destination folder on your backup drive then rename the task to remove the (1) prefix <before> running this task.  You can then do what you want with the files for the original task with no impact on your new task.
