Upgraded to TI2011 and Can't create incremental backup of existing backup created with TI2010

Thread needs solution

I just upgraded to TI2011 and after adding existing backups to list and changing creating backup settings to incremental it won't do incremental it wants to do a full. Would appreciate any assistance. Thanks

If you have set up the task OK then I think you will find that ATIH2011 *will* do a full backup but then the next ones will be incremental. Also check that the "Do not delete the first version of the backup" option is checked or not as that will mean you will have two fulls then incrementals.

If the backup process added the item to the list then it works ok. If I add an existing item manually then it won't. It can be one that was removed or an old 2010 backup the key is that it was added manually.

Here.s an update. I talked to Tech Support and was told that that is normal, they removed the option to add incrementals to an existing backup?

Hello Norman and Ray,

Ray, thank you very much for your help.

Norman,

I would really appreciate if you can describe the situation in more detail, this way, we will have a more clear picture of what is happening in your scenario.

You can add incrementals to an existing backup. This can be done the following way:

1. In the main program menu with a backup right click on the needed backup.

2. Select edit backup settings.

3. Click on Disk Backup options at the bottom left.

4. Select backup scheme tab.

5. Select custom scheme from the drop down menu.

You can then select what type of backup you would like to perform. These steps are not tied to scheduled or manual backups. They can always be modified.

I would really appreciate if you can give us a step-by-step description of what you are trying to do.

If you need additional help, please let me know.

Thank you.

I followed that procedure. The problem is that when the backup is initiated it does a Full Backup in spite of the settings being set to Incremental.

Hello Norman,

Thank you very much for replying.

In this case, please collect the following information and send it to the support engineer working on the issue:

1. AcronisInfo report.

2. Screenshot of the backup settings.

3. Screenshot of the backup files that are created.

I am confident that we will be able to resolve this issue.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

I tried Anton's procedure for recreating backup settings ... fails and dow a full backup anyway

From what I've been able to determine, they removed the option to do an incremental on manually imported backups. it only works if you do a full with 2011 and don't remove the listing from the list.
