mouse jumps around when booted from CD

Thread needs solution

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion dv9000 notebook computer. After starting the computer on the CD to make a full backup of C: drive, the mouse jumps around uncontrollably. I was able in the past to make a backup but don't remember if I had to fight the mouse at that time. I've read that the Acronis CD has its own mouse drivers. Is there perhaps a driver incompatibility with this model computer or should I suspect another problem like a virus which is able to operate even under boot conditions of the Acronis CD? The mouse works okay when operating under windows so I don't think it is a hardware problem.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

It's not a virus.

Have you tried using the usbmouse=off Linux parameter? You can set this when you create the CD (Bootable media startup parameters) or you can enter it at the CD menu by pressing F11.

You could also try the acpi=off noapic options.
